The loud whirring of the TARDIS console had immediately woken up a tired Amy, who had been sitting on the console steps, leaning on Rory's shoulder. It had a long and stressful weekend for the couple, after they had almost escaped Death's grasp yet again in one of their most recent adventures. They really needed a break from all this traveling; they didn't know how much they can handle anymore.
"So my lovely Ponds, where off to now?" asked the Doctor cheerfully, as he pushed some buttons and pulled some levers on the console.
Both the Ponds's eyes widened. "Seriously Doctor, did you really just ask that?" Rory replied rather annoyed. Amy just sighed tiredly.
The Doctor stopped in his tracks. "I did. Why? Is that a problem?"
"Well yeah Doctor, we're exhausted," Rory said. "We've already been through so much trouble the last couple of days and yet you still insist that we go off to another adventure like nothing had happened!"
"Why not? Now look, I know our trip to Concordia 5 was a total bust. I mean, how was I to know that the TARDIS coordinates would malfunction all of the sudden and accidentally take us to its wartime period?"
"Well, you should of checked and fixed her up before we left. We both were in that bloody prison there for two days, Doctor! Two days of torture and humiliation! I thought for sure that we were actually going to die in there."
"But you didn't, did you?" the Doctor said. "I did all I can to save your behinds from your imminent execution, even if I had to dress in a drag and pretend to marry the king of Concordia 5, just so he can order your release. Though, of course, I had to escape myself. I mean, I don't plan to be a wife to a murderous war king all of my life, you know. All that matters now is that you both are safe again."
"Well, that's a big sigh of relief," Rory said in a sarcastic tone.
The Doctor frowned and tried to keep his patience with Rory. "Look, I promise that I'll make it up to both of you. I tell you what, how about we go on a fun vacation?"
Rory retorted, "Where, to get a burning tan on the surface of the Sun? Or let me guess, go scuba diving inside the frozen water moon of Europa?" He stood up from the steps and headed towards the console. There were so many buttons to push on and so many levers to pull...oh, how he had wished to learn how to navigate the TARDIS and take him some place that only he himself could enjoy. "Why can't I pick the destination of choice? Why does it always have to be you?"
"Because first of all, Rory Williams, this is my ship, and I'll do whatever I want. Secondly, I do recall that I did give you the choice earlier on where to go. However, all I got was a smart-alec reply."
"Okay, then I want to go to Cancun!"
Amy stood and turned to Rory. "Cancun? Cancun Beach, in Mexico? Why do you want to go there?"
"Because Amy, I want to relax for once, be at peace, not run around like maniacs on a godforsaken planet and almost getting ourselves killed!"
"Then why don't we just go home? It's much safer there. Besides, you never know what can happen at Cancun. Who knows, we might find ourselves in yet another 'exciting' adventure."
Rory didn't like the idea of going home just yet. He wanted to have a relaxing and soothing vacation, for once. He didn't want to agree with Amy, but he knew that she was right. He couldn't risk getting into another mishap with the Doctor. Besides, he was already way too exhausted from the other horrible trip. "Fine, we'll go home. But next time, we're going on that trip to Cancun!
"Deal!"
The Doctor sighed sadly, seeing that both Amy and Rory decided to refuse to take up on his offer. "Okay then, London, England it is." He faced to the console and began to set up the coordinates. As soon as he was done, the TARDIS began to de-materialize like normal. "There we are. We should be there at your front door in a bit." Suddenly, the TARDIS began shake out of control and knocked her passengers onto the floor with great force. "Perhaps I had spoken too soon," the Doctor said as he struggled to get up.
