After gaining the ability to see everyone's red strings of fate tying soul mates to each other, you realize your string extends past the sky.
I'd imagined meeting my soul mate since I was five years old.
I had dreams about coming across a stranger in a coffee shop and brushing hands since I was fifteen.
And now, twenty years old, I still have to fantasies of meeting the perfect bloke.
When the red strings appeared, everyone was ecstatic. People used it to guide their way towards the one they would spend their life with. I didn't. It took my awhile to even know I had one, until I went to bed, and looked up at the ceiling. That's when I came to the dreaded realization that my red line of fate was headed towards the stars. I felt all my dreams crash to the ground. All my fantasies, hopes, wishes, crushed. I was the only person I knew who's line lead to the sky. People even had the audacity to ask me how it felt to be alone.
One day, I was reading a romance novel, trying to fill the whole in my heart by living vicariously through fictional characters, when my line suddenly went from above, to leading in front of me. I was so excited, I almost ran into the wall. I didn't even think, I leapt from my bed, and started following the red line that I'd wished for years would lead somewhere other than up.
I walked for miles. By afternoon, I had walked so far I was in a different town. Still following the line, I noticed it had been getting thicker the longer I walked. I figured that meant I was getting closer.
I felt like I was at the edge of no where. The town had ended an hour ago, and now all I could see was the road, my red line, and a blue splotch of color too far away to measure. I kept walking though. I needed to find whoever I was meant to be with. Everyone else had their soulmates, meaning I was left with nothing but an empty heart and whispers following me wherever I went.
It was a lonely life I lead, until now.
As I got closer to the mysterious blue shape in the distance, it started to look more like a rectangular box than anything. I could also hear a peculiar sound coming from it.
Closer and closer.
The redline was so thick now, I felt I could just grab it and pull my lover closer to me. That's all I wanted. To be closer to him.Police box? The blue box I had seen was a police box. The classic ones that they don't make anymore. My red line was trapped in the door. I did the only rational thing, and knocked.
The door creaked open, and out popped hair that look like it's only purpose was to be wild. Following it was a lanky man in a brown suit. He looked at me up and down, bewildered and confused. I could see the gears turning in his head.
"Who're you?" He asked. He glanced down at the red line connecting us, then back up at me."Rose Tyler," I responded, "it seems we're soulmates."
