The Tale of Worn Down Prophecies
We were at the coast when it first broke out, some guy with his leg torn came limping over yelling for help, poor guy, turned into one of those undead things soon after. The only place me and my friends, Ren and Winter, could go was the lighthouse.
The lady who owned the home got a shock when about 37 people showed up at her door begging to be let in, including us. It wasn't a very good place to be, everyone was cramped in the little cottage.
I thought ahead though, using the backpack I had packed with beach things I decided to replace everything with the Lady's food. Canned food to be exact. In a moment I remembered that she's a human too and we are taking her belongings. But before the thought crossed my mind of putting everything back, people began screaming as the door to the lighthouse began to be pounded on, yet it wasn't zombies, it was more humans drawing the zombies closer by their screams.
We looked at each other and spotted the door attached to the home. We knew we had to get out now before we were surrounded. The lady had a few kitchen knives, they'd be useful, why can't people just have weapons? I'd taken a knife and being the slow person I am, realised that the other two had left already. I ran out of the house and spotted them running towards the main road up hill, I had to take action, guilt built up in my mind that all these people would soon be massacred by the horde closing in.
As I was about to leave, someone grabbed my arm, I began to panic. Turning round quickly I noticed it was a mother and her child, "Take him," She said, "Take him please! Let him have a chance at living, I'll never survive out there, please! I'm begging you!" I looked down at the kid, small, looks around 8-9? As I was about to speak more people approached me asking me to help them, asking me to take them with me.
My heart felt like it was falling out of my chest, beating wildly. I can't do this. As each person began to ask the same question over and over again I felt myself gradually getting dizzier by the second. I didn't think, I just did. I grabbed the kids arm and began to run towards the other two. "Thank you! Oh thank you!-" The mothers words were drowned out by screams, I looked back, I regret doing do as all I could see was people falling out of the door, being ripped apart and bit into.
My instinct was to want to help them, but I knew I couldn't, the kid was crying and I couldn't do anything but run. Eventually, I arrived at the top of the hill where the other two were.
"Who is that? Yuuki why did you bring him?!" Ren walked up to me, he seemed mad, but yet concerned?. Usually in a situation like this you'd be fearing for your life, not mad. Although, he always has been strong, physically (although it doesn't seem like it) and emotionally. I was about to reply and say I had no choice, but my stomach had other plans, I dropped to my knees and tried to hold back the vomit, I failed."Babes! Are you okay?" Winter began patting me on the back. After what I witnessed I felt like I had a burden on my shoulders, not being able to save those people, I'm stupid for thinking that I could but I wanted to so badly. "Look, babes, they are coming closer we need to go okay?" She helped me up and wrapped my arm around her shoulder. "Lead the way, Ren."
We began to follow him, the kid following close behind, the first day of the apocalypse couldn't have gone better, we are alive, but now, we have to survive, something the human race has forgotten how to do.
After a while of searching, we came across the nearest village from the coast, it looks pretty deserted, maybe everyone escaped in their cars, they seem to be gone too. I felt a bit better in the sense I was able to walk on my own again.
"We have to search for weapons, that knife won't come in handy at all." Ren finally spoke.
"Ren is right, but I think we should find somewhere to stay for the night and let ourselves rest before anything else happens after we find them." Winter suggested, we decided to move forward with the two plans. There was a small hiking store down the street, we decided to look in there. In all honesty it wasn't that bad, although it was a bit trashed the products were still in pretty good shape besides the odd one or two. We tapped the bell on the desk to try and draw out any undead. We heard rustling, a deep gargle, the front shop door...we spun quickly to see a rotten corpse looming over us, swiping it's arms towards our body's. I ran behind it. "Move!" The others ran to the other side. I kicked it's leg and it topples over, without hesitation I used the knife to stab the head. It's dead. I killed it.
"Woah! Well done, babes!" Winter exclaimed as she extended her hand out for me to grab, I did and was pulled up.
"Won't come in handy, huh?" I chuckled.
"Shut up," Ren paused and looked around, "Okay, Winter, get a backpack fill it with essentials, kid get one too. Yuuki, look for clothes to protect us better than what we are wearing now. I'll check for medical things. Find any weapons you can." Ren snaps his fingers and begins to search. Typical, he's being bossy again. But he was right, the clothes we are wearing right now aren't useful. T-shirt's and shorts.I look through the racks of hiking clothes, there's mostly just jackets but they are actually pretty good. I picked one out and put it on, perfect fit. It was one of those water proof ones. Boots! Ah, they'll do better than these stupid flat flossy shoes I've got. Water proof socks, damn we've hit the jackpot here.
I think I inspired the others as they copied what I was wearing, I'm such a trendsetter. Besides the jokes, there was stairs that led up...maybe it's an apartment. I wanted to check it out.
I knocked on the apartment door as I ventured up the stairs, no response. Turning the handle I expected it to be locked but was surprised to find it was open, maybe they left in a rush. Looking around it seemed they were a big baseball fan, 'The Centaurs' what a name. They even had a signed bat in a glass case. Mine now. I smashed the glass with the TV remote and took it out. Definitely mine now.
"What the fuck was that noise?!" Ren ran upstairs only to see me standing in a pile of glass with a bat. His face didn't approve. "Fuck you."
"Uhm, no thanks?" I say jokingly and grinned at him. He shook his head and stuck his middle finger up at me before looking around the apartment too. "Found anything?""Just a first aid kit, some plasters and iodine. And...this!" He comes out of the bedroom with a machete. "They had it in their 'Garden' labeled tool box, must of used it to chop branches because it's a bit blunt now. It'll do though."
"Woah, that's pretty cool!" Do you think we should stay here for the night? Wait until the day passes over. Maybe they have a map downstairs." I say thinking ahead as I check the living room.
"Good idea, I'll check for a map and tell those two to get up here. Find out more about the kid would you? You brought him here." He headed downstairs. What if that kid gets us in trouble? I hope he doesn't...nevertheless, Both the kid and Winter joined me upstairs. "Yo, kid over here," I patted the sofa and he came over to sit, "What's your name?" I ask looking up at Winter who was watching us closely for some reason.
"It's Haru..." He says quietly, I sigh and hold out my hand, he took it.
"Nice to meet you Haru, my name is Yuuki," I say as I shake his hand and let go. "She's Winter, well we call her winter but that's just a silly nickname from primary, and the guy downstairs is Ren, he can be a bit bossy sometimes. How old are you, Haru?""I'm 10, how old are you?" He asked me. Of course I replied.
"I am 15, soon to be 16 at the end of this year-"
"My birthday was 2 weeks ago, I got legos, hot wheels and some sweets, oh and I had pizza." The kid replied excitedly.
"Haha, nice, but Haru," I hugged him, "I'm so sorry about earlier""It's okay, thank you for saving me." I let go of him and smiled before walking off to check the rest of the house.
Shortly after, Ren returned, apparently he wanted to sneak off for a bit because he came back with new jeans and everything. What a twat. Night fell and I offered to go on night watch. I hardly sleep anyway, too busy on my phone usually. I probably have a slight case of insomnia or something but besides that everyone settled down, waiting for dawn to rise. We decided to head south to a lodge not too far from here.
What can I say, the prophecies came true, a plague will wipe out the earth in some shape or form, who would have thought it'd actually be zombies?. I guess it's like that one tale, the boy who cried wolf? Told too many times no one believed it, well now it's a reality.

A/N: I think it's a little bit rushed but I tried to explain what I remember of the beginning and changed the storyline a bit. Oh well, hope you, my two fans, (you know who you are) enjoyed.
