Adaption Yuuki's POV
The night carried on for what felt like weeks, the streets were silent and the room filled with the sound of my own heartbeat. I looked at my watch, 5:43a.m. I wasn't really tired at this point, mostly just wanting to get up and do something productive.
"Yuuki?...why are you still awake?" Haru whispered, I look at him, he had chosen to sleep on the sofa, I'm sitting on the floor in front of it.
"I'm making sure nothing hurts us as we sleep, go back to sleep, Haru, you'll need it for the journey tomorrow." I say looking back at my watch. 5:44a.m. I've gotta wake them up at 6 anyway.
"But, you aren't sleeping. Won't you be tired?" He sits up and wraps the blanket he found in the cupboard around me, it smelt like beer and matchsticks..."I promise I'll be fine, you should really get back to sleep." I say to him, he really should, I know how kids are, they say their fine one minute and the next they hurt themselves.
"No, I'm staying up." He joined me on the floor, "I found this yesterday," He rummaged through his pockets and pulled out a small toy plane. "Isn't it cool?" In all honesty I don't know what I was expecting.
"Yeah, it is" I smiled at him. "Oh, be careful, there's glass everywhere, my bad." I say standing up and making him sit where there was no glass. "Tell you what, should we wake the others up now? I'm tired of waiting." He nodded and ran off to wake Winter up from the spare bedroom. Great, I have to wake Ren up.Heading over to the door of what seemed to be the main bedroom when we checked out the place, I quietly opened it and there he was, the twat, sleeping like the world isn't about to end. "Wake up! Wake up Ren! Get the fuck up!" He awoke and before he could say anything I butted in, "We are leaving in 10 minutes, get your stuff together." I walked out of the room and saw Haru and Winter chilling on the sofa. "You two can get sorted too, leaving in 10 minutes" I say getting my bat and back pack on.
It's a bit weird, going from one day being absolutely normal to the next where we have to survive. It's a bit scary to think about. I'm not scared, I'm not a wuss, it's just striking.
Eventually, it was time to leave, we had a list prepared of what we had:
• Water bottles, 3/4 filled up
• Canned food and 6 protein bars
• Fishing wire
• Flashlights
Of course, we needed more, however, we didn't have it here. Continuing with the plan we headed out of the villages hiking store. The village was still quiet, I suppose they didn't have a big population. We continued walking until we came to a fountain, and decided to take a quick break as Haru needed to go to the bathroom. Winter took him to the public toilets.
I guess they didn't really care much for taking care of this fountain, moss had grown all around it, the water was still running though, maybe the pumps are still working through the mechanism.
"Gimme that." Ren zoomed past me and took my bat off of me, a little mad I wanted to shout at him but was interrupted by a loud smash. He had broken a shop window. "Are you kidding me? What if that could have attracted one of them?" I say shaking my head and sighing.
