Rosa's Dress Above
Rosa's POV
I run my hands through a silky cloth of an emerald green dress. I wrinkle my nose, because it's absolutely hideous. I offer my sister a fake smile though, since I know she picked it out and she's trying her best. I'm also trying my best to be kind, but I also can't lie. . . She has bad taste. I head into the small dressing room to try it on though, and I do a double take when I look at the dress in the mirror. It's tight in all of the wrong places, and doesn't even flatter me. The color and the jewels are all wrong, not matching my style in any way.
"I hate it," I finally admit out loud as I'm coming out of the dressing room.
"Pick one that you want then."
I don't object at all, because after an hour or so of her picking out options for me, I'm more than ready to pick one out for myself. I head to the left side of the shop, where hundreds of multi-colored dresses await me. I head to one rack, and a special dress catches my eye. It's ivory colored, and when I put it in front of me, I admire the detailed lacy bodice and the special shine that the maxi dress has.
I don't bother showing it to my sister. Instead, I walk into the dressing room that I was just in a few moments ago, and I finally try it on. Immediately, I know it's the one. The way it makes me look, and the way it's absolutely me, convinces me of that fact.
I step out of the dressing room, and deep down, I'm worried that she'll hate it. My concerns are instantly shot down though when she grins in approval, and declares that it was made for me.
"It's beautiful," she adds.
"I want this dress," I decide.
It feels right, and I can't deal with having my sister pick out another set of bad dresses.
"Great choice," she agrees with a smile.
I step back into the dressing room, and I change back into my clothes. I'm relieved that this part of prom preparation is over with. I hand the dress to Adrianna, and we go the cash register together.
"When will you buy your dress?" I remember.
"I want it to be a surprise from everyone," she says. "And I'm going to buy you your dress."
"Thanks!"
She smiles, and we go together to the cashier so she can buy the dress for me. She had offered to buy it, so I certainly wasn't going to reject that. We walk out of the store when it's done, and she even offers to buy lunch. I can tell that she's in a good mood, and it makes me happier. I take her up on the request, and spend the rest of my day with Adrianna. I feel the urge to tell her the truth about who I'm going to prom with, but I'm not ready for that and whatever her reaction will be.
I don't think that I ever will be ready.
Aurora's POV
"Thanks for offering to come dress shopping with me," I tell her.
She smiles, and waves it off as if it's no big deal.
"I need to make sure you look the best you possibly can for Rosa," Cameron says.
Cameron had eagerly sent me a message, demanding that I go dress shopping with her after she learned that Rosa and I decided to go after all. Of course, Cameron wasn't necessarily asking- she had ordered me to arrive at this exact store at this exact time.
