The next day, Eddie dragged himself into school, black hoodie and all. He walked through the hallways like a zombie, groaning at everyone, and showing no emotions. The second he walked into his second period, Richie noticed something was up. He tried everything to get eddies attention, but to no avail. Pencils thrown at the head had no affect, and Eddie continued to look down at his work.
"Eds!" He whispered. "Eddie!"

"What do you want?" Eddie spoke in a scratchy voice. Richie noticed his bloodshot eyes.

"What's going on? You've been looking down today." Richie asked, concerned for his friend.

"Nothing, ok?" Eddie scowled. "I just want to be left alone."

"Can't you tell me what's going on?" Richie asked hopefully. "We're friends, right?"

"Just leave me alone!" Eddie shot him down, once again.

As the bell rang, Richie collected his things and stood up violently.

"Fine! Be an asshole!" He shouted. "See if I care!"

Eddie let another tear slip.

"You never did." He whispered.

At lunch, Eddie found himself at a stray table in the corner of the cafeteria. There were words scratched on the surface, and writings in permanent marker were yet to be cleaned off. He sighed.

"Are you alone?" A voice cut off his thoughts.

"Actually I'm-" Eddie stopped himself. He could use friends. "Yeah, I am." He admitted.

"Can I sit?" The person asked.

"Yeah, sure." Eddie replied.

"I'm Beverly Marsh!" She said. "What's your name?" He had heard rumors about Beverly. Apparently she sucked guys off in the bathrooms during free period. But , since when did rumors stop him?

"Eddie!" He responded. His own enthusiasm surprised him.

"So, why are you sitting alone?" She asked, sitting across from him.

"Ah, I'm kinda in a argument with my only friend, so, I decided to sit here."

"Well nice to meet you Eddie! I hope we'll be great friends!"

Eddie emerged from Derry High School feeling pretty ok. He made a friend! He smiled to himself and began his walk home, when Richie ran up beside him.

"Eddie, why won't you talk to me?" He begged.

"I-I don't know , ok?" He breathed. "I just- I gotta go."

"Eddie please!" Richie begged. "I thought you had forgiven me!"

"I had, but then you did something much worse." Eddie spoke. And with that, he ran home, leaving a broken hearted Richie behind.

a week later

Eddie was walking down the hall with his new best friend Beverly, when he realized she hadn't said anything about him being gay. Maybe she hadn't seen Richie's post.

"So, I told the guy, I wanted a burger without cheese, not with-" He interrupted her.

"Sorry Bev , I have to get to class. Can you come over tonight though? I have some stuff to get off my chest." He asked nervously.

"I dunno.. " Beverly joked. "Your mom is kinda a psycho.."

"Shut up, you dweeb!" He laughed.

"See you tonight Beverly!" He shouted, as they parted ways.

"Bye loser!" She responded.
