Abby's POV
I opened my eyes and closed it back again. Blinking until enough senses rush down through me. For a moment, I thought I was blind but I know for sure, I wasn't. It was just dark.
I've always been afraid of the dark. There's something about it that makes me uneasy. I guess because it makes me feel unsafe and unsecured knowing that I cannot see who or what is around me. I am trying not to panic despite the fear running inside every bone in my body. My heart is pumping and beating more than a drum could ever do. I swallowed deeply and told myself that everything is alright, it will be fine soon.
As they say, losing one sense makes other senses more powerful.
As I continuously lose my sight and complete terror takes the whole of me, I heard a voice calling my name, repeatedly. A glimpse of hope strikes me. I tried to focus on the voice, figuring out where it is coming from. I ran, as fast as I could, trying to find my way to the voice.
But as I kept on running, as I kept on asking who it is, the voice keeps fading away as if I am losing it.
I continued to run and run not knowing where to go, wiping my tears and gasping for air while screaming for the voice to come back and find me.
Please come back.
Please, I begged.
But it never did.
Then my alarm rang and I was back to reality.
I inhaled deeply. Stared on my ceiling for a minute and tried to absorb what just happened. Then I stretched my arms in the air and looked at the bright sky outside. It was a weird dream for a beautiful day.
I got up, made my bed and head to the bathroom to take a shower. I love morning shower because it gives you a fresh start. It washes away the tragedy of yesterday and allows you to embrace the possibility of today.
I took my shampoo and inhaled the sweet scent of strawberry before putting it on my hair. Massaging my scalp relaxes me while the sound of the water splashing through my skin gives me harmony that makes me want to stay here.
Until my phone rang. I almost lost my balance when I saw who it was.
"Hey Auntie Ma!" I said while trying to get rid some bubbles on my eyes.
"How are you? You didn't call last night. I specifically told you to call me once you reached there." She tried to be calm and not sound like she is scolding me but failed.
"Oh, sorry, I was so tired because of the travel and I needed to fix my things because I'll be early today. I promise I'll call you once I am bac—" then I suddenly slipped and dropped my phone on the floor.
