Abby's POV
I can see the hustle of people and vehicles around the city but the noises coming from them seems to be so low compared to what my mind has been telling me as I look down at the tire marks on the road.
The accident happened here yesterday. The evidence of him turning this side still shows. I have been wondering now if he really did save the kid. I was so sure when I witnessed it but remembering what the team told me about him somehow questions my judgment.
I turned my head up and looked at the bright sky. How can I keep my faith in humanity if I'm pre-judging the man based on what I heard?
Then I remembered what he did to me at the club.
I sighed and continued my way to work.
As I entered the building, I noticed a black car parked in front. I tried to peek and check if it was his car but good thing, it's a different brand.
The elevator took some time to reach the ground floor, when it did, I let the people out before I enter. I pushed the button for the 33rd floor and felt relieved when I'm the only one riding it, at least I won't be late.
As I waited for the door to close, a hand stopped it. I immediately pushed the open button to let him in. But then I shouldn't have when I saw who it was.
He looked at me. He was wearing a black suit again.
I was frantic when he entered and stood beside me. Maybe he doesn't remember me. I tried to calm myself and let my breathing be normal. I turned my head down and hugged the folder I was carrying.
We were at the 15th floor when I looked at the elevator door. We can both see our reflection there and all of a sudden, I found him looking at me again.
"It was you." His voice very deep and calm.
"Huh?" I pretended.
"The woman at the club, it was you. Right?" He said, still looking at my reflection.
I was scared when he confronted me at the club. When he looked at me with his raging eyes and when he trapped me with his body. But there's something about me now feeling a little stronger. So I straightened my back, held my chin up and lowered the folder covering my chest.
"Yes." I said. "It was me." Mimicking how he stares at me at the reflection.
"You look." Then he turned to face me. Looking from my head up to my toe. I turned to him as well. Meeting his every gaze. Showing him that I am no longer scared. "Different" he ended.
Of course I look different. I am back to my usual outfit. Close neck shirt and pants. You can no longer see even the slightest of my skin from what I am wearing now.
"Is this you?" He said then turned his face back onto the elevator door.
He couldn't take his eyes off of me last night, he came to me like a lion ready to take me but right now, he acts as if he is disgusted by what he sees. "The real you?" he added.
The slightest fear that I felt for him now turned to irritation. Was he disappointed I wasn't the sexy woman he was fantasizing about last night?
"Ting!" Finally, the elevator reached my floor. I immediately step out of the lift but then his hand caught my arm.
"I'm asking you a question." He said. It's weird because the raging eyes from last night suddenly turned into a calm one today.
Nevertheless, I didn't give him the satisfaction for the answer he wants to know. Instead, I forcefully took my arm and said, "Don't touch me."
