Meliods's POV:
I lunge at her, ready for the kill, when she suddenly jumps out of my way and lands a few feet behind me. Dark wings unfurl from her back spreading wide before propelling her into the sky and sending her soaring away. No way am I letting her get away. My own wings extend and I race after her.
I'm faster than her and soon she comes into view, struggling to gain momentum, but she can't seem to operate her wings correctly and instead, begins to turn circles in the air. Its pretty comical and I start to laugh.
She blushes and stops swirling around. "Stop laughing at me, I bet you did this to, the first time you tried to fly." She yells angrily.
Damn, she looks cute when she's... Wait what am I thinking? I want to eat her soul not her... Oh come on. I lunge at her again and she drops through the air, but not fast enough. My wings graze the tips of her hair and pieces of it flutter towards the ground.
"Ha, come on Goddess, is that all you got?" I ask, mocking her. "Or are you all talk no bite?"
She swoops up to me and rams her knee into my groin. I keel over and my wings miss a beat causing me to fall a few feet. Now that's just plain dirty.
"What's the matter, little demon. Are you going to run home to Mommy?" She taunts me.
Now she's going to get it. I think and yank her down next to me, ready to slash her with my wings. She screams and slashes at me with her nails, drawing blood. I let go and drop kick her through the air. Blood pours out of her mouth and she drops down a few feet, gasping for air, before she zooms up and rams into me with her wings, throwing me off balance.
"Come on goddess, you'll have to do better than that if you want to beat the leader of the ten commandments." I tease her trying to bring out the tremendous power I've been sensing from her, but she doesn't even try to bring out her power. Maybe she doesn't know how Says a voice inside my head.
"Ha, come on demon, that all you got? Or are you all talk and no bite?" She taunts me again and I smirk at her.
"Its not over yet." I say and this time when I attack I don't miss. My razor sharp wings slash at her side and across one of her wings rendering it useless. She looks at me, her eyes wide and her mouth open in surprise, before her one wing fails her and she tumbles down towards the ground. "Huh, maybe it is." I say, watching her body fall.
I watch her falling and a deep sense of regret courses through me. What if she dies? I wonder. What if she does? A dark voice whispers from the back of my mind, why should you care? Right why should I care? I think again, but I can't help it. For some strange reason I do care and with that thought I plummet thought the air and grab her around the waist. I am now hovering inches above the ground with her wrapped in my arms.
"Why did you catch me?" She asks.
"I'm a demon, do I need a reason for anything I do?" I reply, flashing her a slight smirk.
"No I suppose not. Now put me down at once." She orders me.
"Whatever you say." I reply before dropping her. She lands on the ground with a thump.
"Ow! What was that for!" She yells.
"I only did what you asked of me, goddess."
"Elizabeth." She says.
"What?" I ask confused by the sudden topic change.
"My name, is Elizabeth." She says.
"So?" I say.
"I just thought you'd want to know the name of your killer." She says and leaps at me. I loose my footing on the wet grass and the two of us go tumbling down a hill.
When we stop, I feel something warm and soft underneath me and I look down to see Elizabeth, wiggling around and trying to push me off of her. Her eyes are blue. I realize looking down at her, or at least one of them is, the other is covered up by her hair. I have an overwhelming desire to brush the hair from her face, but I suppress it.
"Well, that was fun." I say, rolling off of her and staring at the sky.
"You have a very screwed up idea of fun." She says before attempting to rise to her feet. "Ah!" She yells and falls back down beside me.
"That wound will take some time to heal. You should go home and heal yourself." I tell her before rising to my feet and walking towards the far side of the forest.
"Wait!" She calls. "I can't do that, I can barely stand and my wound is to deep to heal, even with my healing powers."
"It sounds like a personal problem to me." I tell her and try to walk away, but her voice stops me again.
"Please at least help me get to town." She says. "If you get me that far I can..." Her voice fades out and I glance back to see that she is passed out in the grass, blood coats the ground beneath her.
I turn to leave, but once again I'm stopped by a strange desire to help her. I turn back and look at her, she's lost a lot of blood, she'll probably die if I leave her here. So with a sigh I bend down beside her, lift her into my arms, and carry her, not to the town, but to my home in the demon realm. Man, goddesses are such a handful.
