Chapter Four: Weightless
Her facial expression warped into one of concentration as she dabbed the wet pieces of tissue along my brow. I didn't even realise I'd been punched or kicked in the face until the girl; Elisa pulled me into the girls toilets and I saw my bloodied face in the mirror.
Her hands were delicate as she lightly wiped the blood from my face, and I tried not to flinch away from the dull sting of her touch. Her warm breath softly touched my lips as she leaned in even closer to get a better view of my cuts and bruises.
The past ten minutes have consisted of me sitting silently thinking over and over and over how the hell I was going to thank her for freaking stopping James back there, let alone ask her why.
Oh God.
Why the fuck do I have to be this freaking awkward?
I sighed in relief when she finally pulled away from my face to throw the damp tissue away. I changed my position from where I was sat on the bathroom counter out of habit.
I'd never felt so awkward.
This girl, who is rather beautiful may I add, just stood up for me in front of quite a large portion of the school and then literally picked me up from the floor and is now cleaning my wounds. What the hell even is this?!
I watched her as she washed her hands in the sink. Her long locks of golden hair fell in front of her eyes as she looked down at her hands. I could have stared at the crinkle in her hair where she'd had it tied up and the slightly worn out shirt that sat loosely on her back forever.
But of course I couldn't admire the stranger for as long as I wanted without getting caught.
The door to the girls' bathroom opened loudly and a small girl shuffled in. The girl was probably a good few years younger than me, considering her height and the fact that she was wearing uniform rather than her own clothes like my year does.
She stopped in her tracks towards one of the stalls when she saw me; her little blue eyes grew wide as she stared. I glanced quickly at the beautiful girl beside me out of shock, only to see her smiling widely towards the girl.
"You- you...um this is the girls bathroom right?" The poor little girl's voice shook when she spoke. Still locked in eye contact with me, the blood rushed to her cheeks; turning her face a deep shade of red. After a few seconds although under her intense stare it felt more like hours she finally looked away and back towards the door she came from.
I heard Elisa giggle quietly at the girl's confusion. It was a soft and warm noise.
Dammit she's like an angel.
"Don't worry, sweetie. You're in the right place; I'm just cleaning up my friend here. There's a bathroom down the hall near M9 if you'd rather do your business in there, but you know. The stalls in here are free." She smiled warmly.
The girl in front of us just nodded slightly before almost tripping over her own feet as she left the bathroom. I couldn't help but laugh at her escape, but I felt a little bad for her. Poor thing.
Elisa looked back at me smirking and she dried her hands off with a few tissues.
"Okay, maybe it was a bad idea to bring you in here." She joked.
There's that giggle again.
I chuckled at her joked but didn't comment. Her smirk dropped to a small smile and she walked closer towards me. Leaning on the counter beside me she crossed her arms over her chest and looked up at me.
I shifted on the counter under her gaze, but I couldn't bring myself to look away.
"You don't talk much, do you?" I shook my head slightly which make her smile.
