My forehead fell against the door with a soft thud as those words replayed over and over in my head. She couldn't possibly be pregnant.

Again, I tried to coo her out of the bathroom, swaying her with the soft voice she loved.

"Baby," I rasped, "Can you let me in?"

She gave a soft groan, refusing still.

"Please? We need to talk about what you just said," I tried insisting, but she still refused. Defeated, I slugged back to the bed, grabbing my clothes and pulling it on quickly. Maybe space would do her good. Maybe it would help clear both of our minds.

So, I hurried out the bedroom and passed the guys as I rushed out the patio door. I quickly made it down the deck and onto the warm sand, setting my mind on taking a long walk by the water.

It was only until I was nearly fifteen minutes away from everyone that I finally settled down for a seat. I lowered my bottom into the sand, digging my toes deep into it before slamming my back against the soft ground.

"Jesus Christ!" I growled, running my hand through my hair and regretting every single moment I laid down with Sarah. Fatherhood just wasn't something I was ready for. One, we were way too young, and two, I wanted to go to college and start my career before starting a family. Bringing a child into this world without the finances to support it just wasn't in my plans.

"Wanna talk about it?" Leksi's voice floated from above me. I carefully opened my eyes, squinting through the glare of the sun. "The guys said you looked like your ass was on fire when you left the house," she grinned coyly.

"Is that why you followed me?" I sighed, patting the spot beside me.

Leksi nodded as she rested her body besides mine. Sighing deeply, she whispered, "Sarah?"

"Yup," I nodded.

"I'm here for you," she gave my ribs a soft nudge, but I didn't want to talk about it---at least not with her.

"I really don't...," I started and she smiled.

"Then don't," she finished, "But don't get so bummed out. I'm sure whatever it is would fix itself."

If only that were true?

"So...?" her lips twitched with a smile.

"So?" I sighed.

"Wanna explain earlier?"

I turned my face over to her, blinking softly. "What else is there to know, Lex? I think it was pretty self-explanatory."

"Was it?" she smirked.

"Wasn't it?" I scowled.

Leksi shook her head, tucking her long, auburn bangs behind her ear. "I want to know more. I want to know what started it. Why me?"

"Lex," I huffed.

"Please?" she gave me that playful pout that always let her get away with everything. Reluctantly, I sighed and gave in.

"You're beautiful," I declared, "I mean, inside and out. From your hair, to your smile, to the way you can light up anyone's day, Lex."

"Aw, now you're just being cheesy!"

I shook my head once more, pursing my lips, "I'm really not. It wasn't until you went back to school in September that I really started to notice how much of a woman you've become. The way your little uniform fit your body," I licked my lips, envisioning the short, grey jumper dress that accentuated her lean legs.
