Sacrifice of Love

Kabanata VII

She is standing at the veranda and feels the cold breeze that touches her skin. She's lonely. Always lonely.

She missed him so much. She missed her fiancé so much. She looks at the sky above and smiled when she remembers everything about him.

His laughter, his wise words, his sweet gestures, his surprises, his smile, and everything about him, she missed everything about him.

It has been five years since he left her. No, since she let him go. She never had a doubt about what she did. She did it right. Holding on to something that is not meant for you is being selfish.

The pain remains on her heart. Her love for him never changed and never will. She suddenly closed her eyes when someone hugs her from behind.

"I miss you so much." a voice whispers in her ear.

The cold wind blows and she tries to hug him back but she was already hugging herself. She could feel him... She slowly opens her eyes and whispers on the air, "I miss you too so much." Her tears started to fell down on her cheeks.

"Mama!"

She got back on her senses when Gee calls her. She wipes her tears away immediately and turned around to see Gee smiling at her.

"Come baby." she bent her knees and carried Gee.

"Are you okay, Mama? Why are you crying?" worried Gee asked her Mom.

"No. I'm not baby. Mommy's fine." she smiled at her.

She admits that the incidents happened five years ago is still fresh on her mind. Time never heal the pain. It remains on her heart. It still hurts. She can sacrifice her love for him, for his happiness.

Gee hugs her Mom tight. Lea hugged her back even tighter and kissed her forehead.

"I love you, Mama!"

"I love you so much too my baby."

She bit her lips to stop herself from crying again but she failed.

Lea immediately runs upstairs when she heard Gee was screaming.

"Ma, what happened? Why Resel is screaming?" Lea asks Mommy Joy who's now going downstairs to call her.

"Jusko anak. Lahat ng makita sa TV hinihingi. Pati mga laruan nya
tinatapon. Asan na daw ang picture ng Papa nya? Pati yung mga sulat di mo daw pinababasa sa kanya puro ka daw pangako. Hay naku! Eh yung Tatay talaga ang hinahanap eh." her Mom answered and took a deep breath.

This is not the first time that Gee was screaming and cursing when she remembers her Dad. She badly needs her Dad because of her condition. And this is one of the biggest problems of Lea.

The doorbell rang and she let Mommy Joy to open the door.

"Okay Ma, please open the door. Ako na po bahala kay Gee." she told to her Mom and went upstairs.

She saw the barbie dolls and magazines scattered on the floor. Resel always did this every time she's looking for her Dad. Damn it!

"Resel Gee! If mainit ang ulo mo,
umiinit din ang ulo ni Mommy. Do you want me to get sick?" Lea scolded her.

"Where is the picture of my Dad?" Gee asks her Mom and crossed her arms.

Until when do I have to tell lies to her? Her mind says.

Lea knows that her daughter couldn't accept the fact that her dad already passed away... spiritually but not physically. She can't show any pictures of him 'cause it might hurt her.
