Summary: Coffeeshop/college Au:

Kahmunrah doesn't like to talk... He hates it in fact, he hates how his voice sounds, he hates how people ask him to repeat the simplest words and most of all, he hates his bloody lisp.

So, he stops talking.

"You know... You can't keep this up forever."

Kahmunrah rolled his eyes, pointedly ignoring his younger brother as he moved about behind the counter, preparing the coffee grounds for the next order despite it being a quiet day.

"I'm serious Kah." Ahkmenrah whined lowly as he slumped against the counter, propping his head upon his hands as he watched his brother, "You can't just go through life not talking."

The elder brother turned to the smaller man sharply, eyes narrowed, and mouth twisted into a silent sneer, he raised his hands to quickly sign out a curt, [Why not?]

Ahkmenrah stared at his brother for a good while before shaking his head, "C'mon Kah..." He muttered, "You know I can't sign." Kahmunrah merely shrugged before turning away, retreating to the back room and away from the public eye.

"Oh shoot!"

The pile of binders Kahmunrah had been carry slipped from his arms as his shoulder was roughly jostled, falling open on the floor with a loud 'crack', a few stray papers fluttered away as the shorter man who had run into Kahmunrah quickly dropped to his knees as he desperately tried to gather the fallen binders.

"I am so sorry!" The small man squabbled nervously as he flittered about on the ground, grabbing for whichever binder he could, Kahmunrah crouched low, joining the other in his efforts to gather the fallen binders.

"I was running late and I didn't see you and, oh, I am so sorry!" The young man gushed quickly as he stood, arms full of wayward papers, Kahmunrah nodded slowly as he looked the younger man over.

He was a tad shorted then himself, though, not as small as his younger brother, his hair was cut short, simply so, functional rather then 'fashionable'.

He had a straight, boyish face and nice blue eyes, he wore simple clothing, (Again, functionality over fashion.) And overall, appeared as your average student.

Kahmunrah offered the young man a small smile accompanied by a casual shrug as he signed a brief.

[Accidents happened.]

The string of gestured went unnoticed by the smaller man as he maneuvered the binders into one arm, offering his free hand to Kahmunrah with a smile as he chirped a light, "I'm Larry."

Kahmunrah looked between the hand and the smaller man, Larry, briefly, before taking the offered gesture and, motioning to himself slowly, signed a simple.

[Kah].

Recognition and confusion passed over the smaller man as his smile fell, "Oh..." Larry murmured slowly, biting at his lip in thought before pulling out a small phone from his pocket.

Kahmunrah slowly moved towards the younger man, reaching out to gently removed the binders from Larry's arm, while the shorter man began frantically tapping at his phone screen. Kahmunrah watched the other in confusion.

Usually whenever someone found out that he did not speak, (Did not, not couldn't.) They would immediately assume him either deaf or dumb, that however, did not seem to be the case as the younger man flashed him a broad, sheepish smile before holding the phone screen to him.
