Destiny

Chapter 2

   "Hey, can you check to see if 'Last Sacrifice' is in yet?" I yell to Andrea. We are now in 6th period, Library Assist. We have to check in/out books, put them away, and re-organize them. Books are like the holy grail to us, so this class is perfect.

   "It is! You want it?" I start squealing and run towards An. "Gimmie, gimmie, gimmie!" An hands me the book laughing. "Excited?" I am now jumping up and down with a big smile on my face. "Oh my god, yes! I have waited weeks for this!" Andrea grabs my arms to hold me still. "Calm. Down." Though she is also smiling. We start talking about the series when the library door opens.

   "Girls! You have a new 'duty-mate'!" Mrs.Phillis, the librarian, yells. 'duty-mate' is her term for student helper. An and I exchange looks. We don't like new kids coming in. This is our girl/book time.

   Mrs.Phillis comes around the desk. "Oh! There you are! Girls, meet Cam Durby. He just moved here from Virginia." I look up to see Cam and am shocked. Most of the guys that come in here are scrawny little dudes. But Cam... "Woah... t-thats awesome." An tries stifiling a laugh, but fails. I shoot her a look.

   Cam is hot! There is no other way to put it. He looks about 5'8", has some well defined muscles, dark brown, shaggy hair, and blue-green eyes. Damn...

   Andrea elbows my side. "Oh, um.. hi!" I akwardly laugh and wiggle my fingers at Cam. "Hey." Cam smiles at me.

   Andrea, apparently missing the attention, says loudly, "Hi!" Andrea is pretty hard to miss. She is 5'6", has a slim figure, wears glasses, has a dash of freckles, and long, sleek, black hair. She is pretty damn hot.

   "Oh, hey. Didn't see you there." Cam chuckles. Andrea scoffs at him then stomps away. Grabbing her bag she yells, "When you two are finished with your staring contest, I'll be waiting in the car! And make it quick, I have places to be and people to see!" We all start laughing as An makes her grand exit. "Well, I guess I will show you around tomorrow then. Sorry." I turn my head to grab my bag in an attempt to hide my flushed face. "That's cool, see you tomorrow..." I look at Cam then realize I forgot to tell him my name. "Oh, my name is Lucinda." My face is burning. "Okay, see you tomorrow Lucinda." Cam  chuckles and gives me one more smile before leaving. I sigh, then head to my car.

   "So... how is Cam?" An is waiting for me by my silver buick and giving me the stink eye. "Shut-up! Cam is Cam. I don't know how he is. All I know is he is oh-so-fine!" I give Andrea a saucy grin and we start laughing. "Oh my god, I cannot believe you just said that about a guy! You haven't given even a mili-second of time to any guy since Jared."

   I turn away and walk to the driver's side of the car. I start the car and An gets in. "Hey, I didn't mean to upset you. It's nice to see you taking intrest in someone new. Jared is an ass." Jared was my boyfriend of three years when I found him cheating on me with another girl. I dumped his ass then and there, and he yelled at me because the other girl also dumped him.

    "Yes he is." We hug before I turn the radio on. "Ooh! This is my jam!" I laugh at An's attempt to dance in the car, then start driving home.
