I open my eyes and see a bright white wall. I hear something beeping, as well. I try to get up but before I can fully sit up someone gently pushes me back down.

"You're too weak to sit up, dear," says a woman wearing a smock.

"Where am I?" I ask her.

"You're in the hospital. Your friend brought you you here last night. She walked out to get some coffee, she should be back any moment. Now, you lay here and wait while I go get the doctor, okay?"

"Okay," I reply then she walks out the room. A couple minutes later Violet and an older man, in a white lab coat walks in. Violet runs over to me and engulfs me in her arms.

"I'm so happy you're okay!" Violet exclaims with tears in her eyes. She pulls away, places her hands on her hips and she adds, "don't you ever scare me like that again." The doctor clears his throat and violet moves to the other side of me.

"Ms. Johnson, I'm Dr. Harp, I'm sure you're wondering why you are here. You had a major panic attack and passed out. I've ran some tests and it seems you are very stressed. May I ask what has your stress levels so high?" Dr. Harp asks.

"Yes, sir. Yesterday...I found out my parents and...a close friend of mine were...murdered." I begin to sob.

"Oh my," Dr. Harp says, "I am so sorry for your loss. Honestly, I was going to to say stay away from whatever is stressing you but now I see that isn't going to be possible. I would like you to stay one more night just to be sure you're not going to have another attack. Also I recommend when you are released to go to your local drug store and buy a bottle of over the counter anti-stress pills. A nurse will be in later to check your vitals and, if everything checks out right, you should be ready to leave tomorrow. Do you have any questions?" I shake my head and Dr. Harp leaves. I look over at Violet and tears are streaming down her face. The moment our eyes lock she bends down to hug me and we cry silently together.

After a while our tears run out but we still hug each other. Neither one of us know what to say so we just enjoy each others company. I eventually fall asleep. When I wake up I notice the blanket that was on my feet is now covering everything but my head. I look around the room and see Violet asleep on a near by chair. I continue to look around until my gaze stops at a window. The moonlight from the sky seeps into the room and the past forty-eight gourds rush through my head.

I can't believe they're call gone. How am I going to continue to live my life knowing the people who raised me and the guy who could have been THE ONE aren't alive anymore? Who would want to kill them and why? So many questions ran through my mind but I didn't have an answer for any of them. My heart feels so heavy and I can't even picture myself living without these people. I begin to cry again and end up crying myself back to sleep.

"Persefoni, wake up," I hear someone say. My eyes flutter open and I realize it's Violet. "Good morning, the doctor said you're being released. He just went to get the forms for you to sign and then we can leave."

"Good," just as I say this my phone begins to vibrate. I grab it from the table beside me and answer it. "Hello?"

"Hello, Persefoni, it's detective Berry I'm just calling to remind you about coming down to the police department, today." I groan.

" I totally forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me I'll be there as soon as I'm released, from the hospital. It shouldn't be long the doctor is retrieving the forms now. "

"The hospital? Is everything alright Ms. Johnson?"

"Yes, everything is find, now. Thank you again for reminding me. See you in a few, bye." I hang up the phone and see Violet starring at me with her eyebrows raised. "That was the detective from my parents...murder." I tell her before she has a chance to ask. She nods her head.

"What did you forget about?" She asks.

"The police need me to come to the station and tell them about my parents."

"Oh, do you need me to drive you?"

"Yes, thank you so much for putting your life on hold for me. I couldn't ask for a better friend."

"You're welcome, you know I got your back no matter what and I'll always be here for you."

"I know, you're the best." Moments later the doctor walks in with a few prices of paper.
"Alright, Ms. Johnson, all I need is for you to sign a few papers and then you can leave." He hands me the papers and I begin to sign them. "Oh and don't forget what I recommended yesterday. There are natural anti-stress pills at almost any local drugstore and I believe they will help you cope with...your situation." I sign the last piece of paper and hand all the papers to Dr. Harp.

"I'll look into the pills, doc." I say.

"Good, well, you're good to go. Take it easy for a few days, though." I gather all my things and thank the doctor, then Violet and I walk out to her car.

"So, where to first?" Violet asks as we get situated in her car. I look down at my clothes, realizing I was wearing the same clothes from two nights ago.

"Can we stop by my house before heading down to the police station? I need to change my clothes." I reply.

"Of course," Violet says as she pulls out of the hospital parking lot. On the way to my house silence fills the car until we reach our destination.

"I'll be right back," I say as I step out the car. I rush into my house and straight to my room. Opening my closet I pick out a simple outfit, put my phone on the charger, then walk to the bathroom. My hair is probably a mess, I think as I enter the bathroom. The moment I look in the mirror I mentally cringe. Grabbing my brush off the counter I brush my hair. Once all my hair is brushed I grab a hair tie and put my hair up into a bun. A quick glance in the mirror confirms I look halfway decent, so I head back to Violet's car. As I walk up to the car I notice Violet starring straight ahead with tears flowing down her face. I get into the car and Violet's wiped her face.

"Are you okay?" I ask, regretting my choice of words the moment they leave my mouth. "I mean, I know you're not okay but is there anything I can do to ease the pain?"

"It's okay," Violet replies, "I'm just torn apart by everyone we've lost. Your parents were like a second set of parents to me. When we were younger I remember them always taking us places and they never once treated me any different than they did you. Then there's Alex, even though I wasn't that close to him it still hurts, ya know." Tears fall down her face, once again and I begin to cry to.

"I know," I say trying to fight the tears that are already escaping. "I miss my parents and Alex, too. At my party I asked Alex out on a date."

"Oh I didn't know, I'm sorry."

"You don't have to say sorry you didn't do anything wrong. I want you to know, I'm here for you. We can mourn together." Violet nods and hugs me, then she wipes off her face once more and drives to the police station. Pulling up to the police station I take a deep breath and think about what is going to happen in there. Violet parks the car, but I wait a moment before exiting the vehicle. Once I get out the car I swipe my hands down my clothes, to smooth them out, then I head towards the building.

Inside the building I walk up to a desk with thick glass surrounding it. The police officer sitting at the desk stares at me.

"I'm Persefoni Johnson, I was supposed to come by today to give information about my parents." The officer nods then he begins to type on the computer, in front of him. He grabs a walkie-talkie from his side and speaks into it. Moments later detective Berry enters the room.
