Come Running Home To You

Chapter 1

Authors note: okay first off, thank you for clicking on this story! I have it published on my Instagram @/irisdxnvers but I thought I should post it here! This is my first story so please bare with me! I'll probably update three or four times a day since I'm busy with my actual life (ew) ANYWAY without further ado, onto the story!

Broken. That's all Kara felt since her boyfriend was forced to leave Earth because the air was exposed to lead. Everyone took notice and was worried but didn't know what to do. For her, it was harder. All she did was wake up, get ready, go to work, ignore all the shouts and complaints from both Cat Grant and Snapper, do a little superheroing if needed, go home, cry, sleep, repeat. Alex had tried to talk to her but she's so broken you could see it in her eyes. She didn't even sleep in her bed anymore. She didn't even say it was 'her' bed, more like 'theirs'. The days of her and Mon-el together in bed made her feel safe. Like nothing could go wrong. Unfortunately, the future had other plans. It had only been 2 months since Mon-el left, but to Kara, it felt like years and she should know since she has spent time in the phantom zone. One night was when Alex had to finally say what was on her mind. "Kara?" She called softly through the other side of the door. "It's me. Please open up" she called louder wondering if she was asleep, wasn't home or just didn't wanna come to the door. After what seemed like forever Alex gave up and used her key she had (for emergencies only). The sight of Kara laying helpless on the ground surrounded by blankets, empty pizza boxes, and empty ice-cream tins broke her heart. Her sister didn't deserve all this pain. By what she could see all Kara had on was a flannel, 'his' flannel. Being careful, Alex slowly made her way over. "Sis?" She called out. Kara turned slowly around and looked the older in the eye. "Alex" she said voice still cracking. "Yea. I'm here" she answered leaning down to pick Kara up to put her on the couch. "He's gone." Was all she said once the two were settled on the couch. "He's gone!" She cried out with more tears streaming. That made Alex almost tear up at her little sister's break down. All she could do is hug her. Hug her while she cried. "Hey, it'll be okay. I'm here" she whispered. Kara then started to calm down after Alex rubbed her back. That's when she wondered one thing. Will her sister ever be okay?

The next day, at the D.E.O, Maggie found Kara in her private room that had the hologram of her mother, Alura. They were in deep conversation. "Kara?" Maggie called to her. That startled Kara. "Goodbye mother" was all Kara said before shutting the hologram off. "Maggie, I told you, this place is special to me!" She told her. Maggie stepped back. "I'm sorry Kara, but I wanna know how you're doing?" She asked softly. "I'm fine" was all Kara said. But Maggie didn't buy it. "I know you're not fine, Kara. You're not eating everyday, not sleeping, I could go on! I know we haven't been on the best terms but if I'm going to be your Sister In law, we need to learn to talk to each other. When Alex went missing I didn't know what to do. But when she was in that tank I felt like dying because I didn't know if she was going to make it! I know he left, but we're here for you. Please talk to us." Maggie finished. That's when Kara broke. She hated being vulnerable in front of people but she couldn't hold it in anymore.All she did was drop to her knees and sob along with Maggie running over to wrap her arms around her. They were like that for a while before Winn came running in, startling the two women. "Kara, I have some news! It's about mon-el!" He exclaimed. That name made Kara look up at her best friend. He explained more. "I found the coordinates but we don't know when we can get the lead out of the air." Kara stood up. "Show me the coordinates" she said voice cracking. Winn nodded and the two plus Maggie followed him out. That made Kara have a little hope left. If only more would enter her mind.
