My heart, so gentle and sweet, gave herself away.
But you shone like gold and I was paled with gray.
My soul screamed with words I could never say.
In the end, I knew there'd be hell to pay.
I choked down the love I wanted to tell.
I was foolish, and scared, and my honesty fell.
My heart cried when you were near me,
but these emotions never did I let you see.
When fate gives two hearts one simple chance
to meet, to love, and forever dance.
All stop in the glory of the simple light,
the light, so warm, that glows so bright.
I pushed away the light.
