CHAPTER FIVE
Nate stepped out of the door frame giving me a gesture to come in. Stepping onto the smooth white carpet I suddenly felt the need to remove my shoes, just in case I were to leave dirty footprints.
Nate suddenly looked much older underneath the new light, maybe it was the suit or his messy black hair that he always styles into a somewhat "quiff" sort of look. His bangs were flat on his forehead, almost like he shook his hair out like a dog.
I was very aware about how much I was currently thinking about his hair. And then of course there was a hint of stubble on his face that I didn't seem to notice this morning... maybe it was the new light or something. But it still looked hot.
"Dinner will be ready in a minute, I'm just gonna go..." He looked down at his body finally freeing his neck from the tie "Change," He muttered.
"Sky's in the living room, trust me she'll be company enough," He smirked before walking out of the small foyer. I followed suit walking into a very modern living room. All natural colours and abstract furniture with a lot of glass stuff.
The wall opposite me, looking out onto the city, entirely consisted of glass, I feared for my safety.
"Ashley!" A body collided into my leg paired with a high sequel. I laughed as Sky nearly cut off the circulation in my leg.
"Daddy told me you were coming to visit tonight. Will you play with me?" Her big green eyes sparkled up at me with hope, damn... how was I supposed to say no?
"Sure," I laughed lightly rolling my eyes. I observed my surroundings as Sky dragged me over to a couch, some teddies laid scattered on the ground near the glass wall and my heart picked up. Was it safe for a three-year-old girl to be playing next to a glass wall at heights like this?
"This is Mr. Fluff-" I zoned out watching down the glass where cars looked like ants and people were nearly non-existent.
"Aren't you scared?" I asked Sky breathlessly as she leaned with her back against the glass. My instinct kicked in and I immediately pulled her away from it. She shook her head handing me another teddy bear.
"Daddy sometimes sits like this, so I can too," As if that would make it any better.
"Sky I told you not to play at the wall," I jumped at the sudden loud voice, Sky instantly shrunk in size hiding behind my body.
"But you get too," She muttered softly hugging her teddy to her body and crawling onto my lap.
"What are you-" I turned around when Nate abruptly stopped talking, he wasn't wearing those really tight fancy black pants anymore but grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt.
"Oh," He sighed walking over to us, Sky looked up at him through her long lashes... again this is unfair, years of mascara and I can't achieve that!
"You really shouldn't be up that early," He scolded her in a somewhat playful tone making her smile and climb off my lap, like the danger was gone.
"So cupcake, mind telling me why you're so early?" Nate arched an eyebrow and after, a few embarrassing minutes, did I realize he was talking to me.
"You said five... it's five," I explained looking at my watch.
"I said six," He smirked picking up some of Sky's teddies and dumping them on the couch.
"No, you said five,"
"Cupcake," He sighed with a smirk "I think I remember the time I gave you,"
"Whatever you say Mr. Mysterious," I rolled my eyes standing up.
