There's a Monster in my Bed

01 : Party Hard Tonight

Nagising ako dahil sa masinaw na ilaw na tumama sa aking mga mata. Ilaw na nanggagaling sa kanan ng aking kwarto. It's probably the sun's rays.

The next thought that bubbled my mind is the memory of closing the blinds of my wall-sized glass window after doing my vanity rituals last night. I stood up naked and headed to the white switch that closes its blinds before turning my back to take a hot shower. Yeah, I am fond of sleeping naked though the air conditioning of my room makes me shiver at night. What are blankets and comforters for, right?

The moment I turned the faucet on, I immediately felt the relaxing sensation the hot shower gives me. It's doing a great job of taking all of the tardiness and coldness in my slender body. I had a really tiring day yesterday.

Abala akong inaasikaso ang magaganap na reunion ng aking batch noong high school. Ako ang naatasan sa pagpaplano ng event at program since I do good at this. I'm planning on throwing a house party like what we often do back then. Ilang linggo ko ding pinagtuunan ito ng pansin at mamayang gabi na magmamarka sa kasaysakayan ang pinakamatagumpay na reunion ng aking batch. Masaya ako at naging daan ako para magkasama-sama kaming muli.

I was busy combing my then wet shoulder-length hair when sudden knocks on my door interrupted me. I was forced to stop mesmerizing its jet-black shine. I immediately stood up to answer the door.

"Aurellio, nakahanda na ang almusal" said nanay Petra who has been my lifetime nanny, the moment I opened it. She didn't even bother greeting me with a polite 'good morning'.

"Nay naman, e. How many times do I have to tell you that It's Reeo?!" I said squealing. "R-E-E-O! Reeo! Aurellio is a bit old school and a lot manly. Bagay ba sa'kin yun?" I continued ranting. 

Hindi naman kasi talaga bagay sakin ang manly na pangalan. I have strong feminine features even though I'm male. Androgynous, ika nga nila. Siguro dahil na din sa paglilihi ng Mom ko sa porcelain doll na bigay sa kanya ng kanyang long-lost best friend.

"O, siya. Reeo" she said with an emphasis on my preferred name. "Pumanaog na't kumain."

I immediately shot her a smile after hearing that. "Thanks, Nay! Susunod na po ako." said the cheerful me and then she left.

I headed back to the mirror and finished my vanity. It's gonna be a really tiring day since we're going to decorate the house this afternoon for tonight's event. Yes, we. A team from my Events Management firm will be here later to do the work.

I headed down the curved stairs and straight to the glass dining table where Nanay Petra prepared this morning's breakfast. I sat down at the nearest chair. Nanay was there waiting to serve me the food.

"Akin na nga iyan. Halika na dito't sabayan mo ako." I said grabbing the white round dish and served myself. She just stood there stubbornly next to me. "Nay! Lika na!". Pangungulit ko. She then sighed retreat and sat next to me.

Nanay Petra has been a great nanny to me. She has been with our family for as long as I can remember. She was always the one to cook rather than Mommy who has no such talent in the kitchen. She is the one person that knows me from the tip of my hair down to my toenails. But in all her years, she remained humble. Madalas ay talagang kailangan siyang pilitin na sumabay sa'kin sa pagkain.

After having a light meal of fried varieties, I decided to go outside to have a coffee on the lawn. I sat at the wooden bench and opened my iPad to check some stuff on the internet.

A lot of wall posts flooded my Facebook newsfeed as I was checking. Most of them are from my high school classmates and teachers talking about the reunion. They express their excitement on those posts.
