A/N: IMPORTANT!!!

Hey guys!!!! It's taken me a while-way longer than it probably should have-but here is the very first updated, rewritten chapter of Bondi Rescue!! It's been a long time coming, considering this first chapter was originally written in January of 2018, and I'd like to think my writing skills have improved since then! I also made the decision to switch this story from 1st person POV to 3rd person POV, as that's what I've been writing in almost exclusively for a year now. I will be posting chapters as I update/rewrite them, and while I'm not sure of any formal schedule, I'm hoping to be done by mid-June! As soon as I have finished updating the chapters, I will begin working on posting new ones!! I don't want to start putting out new content before all of the other chapters are rewritten, so that's why there won't necessarily be any new content. That being said, as I am rewriting chapters, I will be changing some things. Nothing major, no big plot points or characters will be changed, but conversations and dialogue might shift, and there will likely be some foreshadowing, so I highly recommend you re-read the chapters as I upload them, so you're up to date on the slightly altered storyline. If you have any questions about continuity or changes that I've made, please feel free to leave me a comment or message me directly, and I will answer to the best of my ability!!

Alright, long author's note over, I really really hope you guys enjoy this brand-spanking-new chapter!! As always, my work is un-beta'd and comments/likes are always appreciated!

"Attention all passengers, this is your Captain speaking. We are about to start our descent into Sydney International Airport, and we ask that all passengers return to their seats and fasten their seatbelts. We should be landing in approximately twenty minutes, thank you for flying with Delta Airlines."

Jolting awake, Emilie sat up straighter in her seat, arching her back against the unforgiving foam seats of the airplane. After spending over twelve hours in a stuffy, cramped, claustrophobic tin can hurtling through the sky, she was more than ready to be out in the fresh air.

Turning to her right, Emilie peered out the tiny window, taking in the continent below her. The decision to move from Maui to Sydney was spontaneous, but necessary. Maui had been her home for years, but it was time to move on, for more reasons than one.

As she stared at the glistening blue water that surrounded her new home, Emilie thought back to when she'd decided to move. Her roommates had asked if she was going back to Seattle, where she'd grown up, and her answer had been a hard no. Despite having been her home for eighteen years, Emilie had few fond memories of Seattle, and no love lost for the people she'd left behind. When she'd been accepted at the University of Hawaii in her senior year of high school, she'd felt no regrets at picking up her life and moving across the North Pacific Ocean to the tiny chain of islands.

After she'd graduated–with bachelors degrees in marine biology and human anatomy–she'd moved to Ka'anapali, and had quickly been hired as a lifeguard at Ka'anapali Beach. She still maintained that it had been the best decision of her life. She'd become fast friends with some of the other lifeguards, and they'd even shared an apartment while she lived in Ka'anapali.

Emilie watched the runway fast approaching, the plane jolting as the tires hit the asphalt, and the plane started to decelerate. She couldn't wait to stretch her legs, but unfortunately her seat was one of the last in the plane, so she had to wait for everyone else to disembark.

Finally once every single businessman, vacationer, and exasperated mother with screaming children had disembarked, Emilie was able to get out of her seat and make her way out of the plane and into the Australian heat.
