Hermione's PoV

I woke up to a tap on the window. I went to the window and I found one of the Hogwarts owls. I opened the window and took the letter off of the owl's leg. I watched as it headed off into the sky. I opened the letter and read what it said.

Dear Miss. Granger,
We'd love it if you'd return to Hogwarts to repeat your seventh year. This year, a new law has been put into place that all Hogwarts students of seventeen years of age are paired with their soulmate. During your first week, you will find who your soulmate is and be sharing a dorm with them. We will provide two twin sized beds, for your convenience. If you have any serious relationships, we would want you to break it up immediately.

Yours truly,
Minerva McGonagall and Kingsley Shaklebolt.

I looked over the letter again to make sure I wasn't imagining things. I had to break up with Ron? What will Ginny and Harry think? My mind was really as I went back to bed. I didn't know what to think of this new law, and I wouldn't know until the next morning.

The next morning

Ginny's PoV

"Ginny! Ron! Harry! Wake up dears your Hogwarts letters have arrived!" Mum yelled up the stairs. I got up and went downstairs, sitting next to Harry and beginning to eat. Mum brought our letter over. Here's what mine said:

Dear Miss. Weasley,
We'd love it if you'd return to Hogwarts to finish your seventh and final year At hogwarts. Start of term is on September first.

Yours truly,
Minerva McGonagall and Kingsley Shaklebolt

I looked, dumbfounded, at the letter. No! It wasn't supposed to be this way! Harry and I were supposed to live a happily ever after and I would write a fanfic about it. Grrrrrr. Stupid laws.

"Ginny?" Harry said cautiously. I waved him away, finishing up my food, and running into my bedroom to cry.
