I'm Mr. Swart.
More known as Ringmaster.
I am owner of Cirque de York, the most famous traveling circus around!
I have seen many things. But today I saw something I've never seen before, she came up to me after the show.
"I would like a job."
A girl stood in front of me. She had a black hood, ripped black pants, black shoes and a white shirt. On her face she had a black cloth mask, covering her mouth. And a matching black, plain eyepatch over her right eye.
How peculiar...
"We arn't hiring." I state.
She speaks clearly with the mask.
She looks at me, I see her left eye. Strangely it was black, not blue or brown or green. Black.
"I'll work for free! All I ask for is a place to sleep!" She begged.
I felt like dismissing her, sending her on her way.
Her brown messy hair could be seen under her cloak.
"A place to sleep? You mean like a hotel?" I say.
Free of charge sounded good. But there was no way the circus could afford paying for a hotel room nightly.
"No sir. I wouldn't mind sleeping in a hay bale.
I just need somewhere sheltered." She said. Her voice sounding more pleading.
I sigh. I will regret this.
"So your okay with sleeping in the circus?" I say, raising a eyebrow.
"Yes, of course." She said. In a unreadable tone.
I thought about it.
"Deal, on one condition." I say.
"Yes?" She asked.
"You have a week to prove to me that your worth my time. If you make ONE mistake. Your out." I say.
"Deal." She says.
I sigh. Knowing I'll regret this. Though it will be useful to have extra hands to help with hard tasks.
"You can sleep in the circus, I will figure out where later. Did you happen to bring anything with you?" I ask the creepy girl.
"Yes sir." She said.
"Go get it. And meet me back here in ten minutes. Don't be late!" I finish and the girl sprints off, her black cloak flying up like wings.
What was I thinking.
---------------------------
"Here you go ladies." I smile at the two while they walk away giggling and holding a picture of me with my autograph. I smile. Thinking of how handsome I am. And hearing the roar of the crowd from the show.
A black cloak brings me back to reality.
Someone wearing a black cloak is walking to the exit.
People are staring at them.
The cloaked person walks near the bleachers.
A guy jumps out from behind the bleachers and grabs the cloaked person. They both disappear behind the bleachers.
Curious, I go investigate.
Keeping low, I look through the ripped cloth that leads under the bleachers. My eyes take a moment to adjust to the gloom. I look and see four guys, two pinning the person to the wall. I realize with a start that the cloaked person is a girl. The hood of the cloak is pulled off her face. The girl had brown, messy long hair. She had a black, cloth eyepatch over her right eye. And a similar black mask covering her mouth and nose. So the only thing visible was her left eye.
I shiver. It was as black as tar.
It took all my guts to not run away. One guy pulls down her mask. It hangs from her neck, crumpled. Under the mask she had soft pink lips, she looked normal. Maybe beautiful. Although I'm ten times more handsome.
Why would she need the mask if she's okay?
The girl was scrawny and looked tiny compared to the tall men. One man yanked the eyepatch off and threw it to the dirt floor. Her right eye was a sparkling green.
Very strange.
Two different eye colors?
The guy that pulled off her eyepatch ruffly grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him.
"Your a freak." He growled. He let go and slapped her.
I winced. Frozen in fear.
The forth guy comes up to her spinning a knife.
"You shouldn't have been born." He said.
He took one of her hands that were pined and pressed the tip of the knife onto her finger. Causing blood to form. He then takes it away. Her hand pinned again.
He put the knife close to her face.
The guys snicker as the girl trembles in fear.
"I'll let you go with just a little something to remember me." He said.

I didn't want to help her. She was weird, scary and seemed evil.
What I really wanted to do was turn around and walk away. I wanted to forget that I ever saw this hooded girl.
That's why I was just as surprised as everyone else when I bolted under the bleachers and knocked the guy with the knife down.
I heard a small cry of pain. At first I thought it was an angles voice.
But I got up and saw that it was the girls voice. The knife was bloody and on the ground. Her already ripped black pants had a new cut in it. Showing her leg that was bleeding.
I silently curse myself for how I handled that. The knife must have slipped out of the guys hand and cut her.
One guy grabbed me.
I curse again for trying to take on four guys.
But I smile as I remember how strong I am.
I kick the guy in the leg and hear a crunch. He hollers in pain and collapses.
I must of broke his bone.
The guy that I shoved now came up to me and grabbed my collar, trying to shove me to the ground.
I lift him up one handed and throw him against the wall.
He falls to the floor and starts crawling away.
I look around and realize that the two guys and the girl are gone. I go outside the bleachers and see them in front of me. The circus is now cleared out and looks deserted.
One guy throws the girl to the ground and kicks her hard. She yelps in pain.
The other was waiting to ambush me, he tackled me and I fell to the ground. The breath was knocked out of me. The guy punched me in my jaw, but I barely felt it. I push him off me, sending him rolling on the circus wood floor. I get up and kick him. He lays trembling in pain. I look to the girl. The guy kicked her several times. But she grabbed his foot before he could hit her again and twisted in. The guy cursed and hopped on one leg, holding his foot. The girl shakily tries to stand. I grab the last guy by his neck and punch him. He fell and a tooth came out of his mouth.
I turn to were I last saw the girl. But she wasn't there. Then she slid out from behind the bleachers, wearing her hood, eye patch, and mask again. She looked at me then sprinted off to the exit.

Should I follow her?
