( CHAPTER TWO | I CAN'T )

"IF YOU DON'T IMAGINE, NOTHING EVER HAPPENS AT ALL."

Astrid was sitting beside Ray at the bleachers, as she let him wrap his arm around her waist, pulling her body closer to him. Wen couldn't stop himself from looking away with a frown as he watched from afar.

With the roll of Astrid's eyes at Ray's antics and the watchful eyes around them, she could understand people's presumptions. She knew that most of the time, he only did it to gain more social attention rather than actually showering her with affection, and while she didn't care much for their blatant whispers, she also didn't bring herself to disseminate the truth. Personally they both knew their relationship was strictly platonic with benefits, thinking of their own selves in the end.

As Jules and Patty came up the stairs, Astrid watched as they approached the new girl from this morning, sitting on the bleachers below. "Hey," Jules said, sounding mockingly-sweet with her intent eyes, "Why don't you uh-" her excessive point to try and imitate power over the rest, " -find another seat."

"Why don't you make me," was the nonchalant reply from the new girl. Letting a smirk grow on Astrid's face as she watched on, she acknowledged the new girls pluckiness.

However unlike her, Patty and Jules didn't find it so amusing. They looked agitated from their mild humiliation. Feeling a little bad for her friends, Astrid tugged at Ray's hair, stopping his advance on her neck. Nodding towards their mutual friends, "go help them."

Shaking his head, Ray got up and pulled the girls to sit beside the couple instead, snapping his fingers for people to empty the seats. Jules and Patty stomped away in a heated mutter, "what a freak!" Passing a heated glare at the back of the new girls head.

Their principle on the podium once again mentions the schools sponsor, Turbo Blast- the "Drink of Champions!" He yells out, as Astrid rolls her eyes at his behaviour.

Leaning her head up to brush her lips against Ray's jaw, whispering at him to quickly grab her waist again- he does as she says. In a silent conversation between them, Astrid is jumped to a startle by loud yelling, she snapped her head to the new girl. "My shirt! My way! Don't let him tell you what to wear! Or what to do! C'mon! I can wear what I want! I can wear whatever I want!"

Lost in her wild speech, Astrid quickly realized the cheers in agreement for the girl, half the auditorium in a round of claps for her to yell louder, the other half demanding her to sit back down. All while their red-faced, fuming principle stood still up front. And although Astrid was never a person to be swayed by the bigger crowd. She couldn't help but feel intrigued by everything happening, the cause to challenge the schools silent favouritism and restriction of individuality. Astrid shrugged her shoulders with a nod in respect, some people could see her start to slowly clap along with others- those watching followed her lead.
