days after their friendly boba tea date, a few things change.
hoseok still gets home late. there's still strawberry milk on his doorstep. his plants are still watered well.
the change takes form in a certain min yoongi. whenever hoseok arrives home, yoongi sits by the doorway of his own house, always in a thin white shirt and plaid pajamas. sometimes, he has an unlit cigarette dangling by his lips. sometimes, he's curled up with a bowl of vegetable salad close to his chest, eating calmly while staring ahead at nothing.
hoseok always nods at him with a soft smile, and the first time he does that, the other just blinks, dazed, before nodding back.
whenever hoseok isn't that tired, he sits by his doorway too until he finishes his strawberry milk. sometimes, he tells yoongi about jimin and jungkook, and the other talented kids he's teaching. yoongi listens, pitches in some comments or witty remarks. sometimes, they laugh about nonsensical things. sometimes, they just sit in comfortable silence, watching the night sky overhead.
one time, hoseok finds yoongi with his bangs clipped back by a white hair clip with a bow detail, head ducked down to pet a stray cat. he's cooing at the cute little thing, scratching its jaw. it's a sight Hoseok wants ingrained in his mind.
yoongi doesn't seem to notice hoseok at first, but when the latter's footsteps signal that he's nearing, yoongi looks up, alarmed. hoseok hears him gasp before snatching the clip out his hair and running to the safety of his home. he watches the door slam shut, unable to tell yoongi that it's okay, i don't judge. unable to tell yoongi he looks pretty with the white bow.
he wonders how yoongi will react if ever hoseok tells him he knows he's sugarmin.
