The broken family

You're sitting at your desk,

You know it's time to go.

You've said it a million times,

But now you really know.

You want to die,

And escape your mind.

You want to die

And leave us behind.

No one is home,

It's the perfect time.

No one is home,

No need to lie.

You don't write note,

You film it instead.

That's what they'll find,

When they see that you're dead.

Grabbing the rope,

You start to film,

You mumble out some words,

To show how you feel.

The rope is round your neck,

To prove what you do,

As you say to the camera,

'Mum and Dad, I love you.

I'm sorry you didn't see

What a mess I was in.

But I felt like the rubbish

We chuck in the bin.'

You stop talking now,

And tears flow down face.

You say sorry to your siblings,

And you friends who love your face.

The last message you give

Is 'Stay strong'

A phrase that you know

Is so wrong.

The camera whirrs on,

But now it has to happen.

The camera turns off,

And so do you.

The room is silent,

When suddenly the door opens.

It's your mum,

And seeing you she is broken.

She rushes to your body,

Which is hanging from a rope,

And seesif you're alive,

She has a tiny shred of hope.

Her eye catches the camera,

And she flicks it on.

Watching the video,

She realizes you are gone.

Tears erupt from her eyes,

As she hugs you tight,

She doesn't go to sleep,

But stays there all night.

The next day at school,

You don't turn up,

Then the next, and the next

And your friends turn up.

Your dad stays at home,

Your siblings in their rooms,

The friends all grow depressed,

And families fizzle out with a boom.

If only you hadn't

Have broken it.

Then one less family

Would be hit.
