Kathy POV:

I watched Nick settle in for bed as I brushed my teeth with the left over tooth paste we had. I loved getting to sleep in a real bed, but I hated the reason we did it. I knew Nick only agreed to let me sleep in a bed and use a shower if he planned to rob a store the next morning. My parents had always told me that stealing, even if necessary, is wrong and that people do suffer for your actions.

At the same time though, I knew that without our little prospecting raids, we would have died months ago. After I finished preparing for bed I crawled into the soft cozy sheets to wait for another new day to begin.

I glance around the small square looking for a store that has easy access and low security. Those are the best stores to stake out. Nick is a few steps ahead of me pretending to window shop, when in reality he is also checking out the stores.

“How about the stop and shop we passed before”, Nick whispers to me as we continue to walk around.

“Sure, your better at this than I am”, I respond.  Nick and I continue to walk down the sidewalk near the stores looking to see if there is anything we missed. At about noon we walk over to subway and use our last ten dollars to get us two six-inch subs, a bag of chips and two sodas.

“The best way to go about this would be to act like we are heading over to the 24 hour liquor store than when no one’s looking slip up the alley near our target and through the back door,” Nick begins to strategize. Then you can grab the supplies while I take out the video cameras. Deal?”

I nod my head silently in answer. I hate robbing innocent people, what did they ever do to me? I could be taking the food money that goes to orphans or the heath care money for hospice for all I know. Tonight is going to be anything but fun and games.
