The guy with the hazel eyes stops for a short second, but just as I open my mouth to say hi his friends drag him along and it’s too late. I follow the group of friend, with my eyes, as they disappear down the street. I sigh, something I’ve done a lot today, and continue walking around the neighbourhood.

After I’ve been walking for a while, okay maybe more than a while, I recognize the car and the house I walk by and realise that I’m back at my new house. I have simply walked in a circle around the neighbourhood.

“Mum, I’m back” I say.

“Hi honey, I’m upstairs” she replies.

“You can go up and help her” says Alan that walks by.

I’ve never liked him. He thinks he owns me and he eat way too much but that’s easy to figure out. Honestly, I still don’t know what my mother sees in him. He’s ugly, he’s going bald and he has the worst personality ever, and how exciting is it to sit in an office all day getting fat? My mum keeps telling me to stop being so rude to him, but why should I be nice when his isn’t, I don’t see the point of it. I do a few funny faces as he walks into another room. Not if you tell me to do it, I think, and then walk up to the second floor.

“Mum?” I say.

“I’m in here” she replies from one of the room.

“I don’t know where ‘here’ is” I say and peek into every room until I find her.

The room I’m standing in has dark wooden floor and purple walls. In the room stands a pretty big bed, but it’s too small to fit both my mum and Alan so what I’m starting to get a feeling that this is my room. I walk over to one of the boxes in the room and open it and look down at most of my clothes. Yep, this is my room. I look around, most furniture is already there and put in place, just a few boxes are still standing in the room.

“So, what do you think? Is this good enough for you?” my mum says.

“I think I will survive.” I say with a smile on my face.

“Great” My mum says and gives me a kiss on the forehead on the way out.

I walk across my room to the window and look out. It’s not a very special view because it’s a house in the way, but… I can see right into the room that is across to mine in the other house.

Suddenly someone turns on the light in the other room and a guy appears in front of the window, and it’s not any guy, it’s the guy with the hazel eyes. I dive down onto my floor and starts crawling to the door. Please, please, please, please, say that he didn’t see me, I beg over and over again as I get closer to the door. Then I hear laughs and when I look up I see both my mum and Alan in the doorway.

“What are you doing? Cleaning the floor?” my mum jokes.

“Ha-ha, no.” I say and stand up.

“Then, what were you doing?” she says.

“Nothing” I say and look down on my feet.

This day is just getting worse and worse. This guy, if I ever meet him again, will probably remember me like the girl how stares or looks into his window. This kind of thing never happens to me, so why do they happen today? As fast as my mum and Alan have left I throw myself on the bed, avoiding the window. I’m never leaving this room again.

“Olivia, wake up. It’s dinner” my mum’s voice says somewhere in the distant. “Wake up.”

“Mm” I mumble without opening my eyes.

I feel my bed bounce a little as she sits down and I feel her hand stroking my hair. “You know, our neighbours were here before. Did you know that they have a son in your own age, or maybe he was one year older than you?”

My eyes shot right up.  “Wait who? You mean that house” I say and point at the window.

“Yes, I thought we could invite them to dinner this weekend.  I bet their son is really sweet.” My mum says.

“Uhm… su… sure” I strains.
