Lunch rolls around and I head to the overcrowded, loud, obnoxious cafeteria. The people there remind me of starving kids in Africa, but the kids in Africa don’t have expensive clothes or cars.
I take my usual seat next to the window, I watch all the kids laughing and talking. I think to myself how I wish I fit in and nice it would be to not be made fun of all the time.
I see Scott walking over to me, with once again his big goofy smile. I smile back. The instant I do I see his face go sour. Im confused as to why, but then I see why his face went sour and why he stopped mid-step. Brooke.
Brooke walks over to me, with a grin that could kill a bird. “Hello, Brooke.” I say trying not to sound too disgusted. “Hello Olivia. I just wanted to let you know, that Scott doesn’t like you. He’s not into brunettes with green eyes that wears glasses. He’s into blonds with blue eyes and stylish clothes.”she says. I try to hold back a laugh while I watch her standing there, attempting to mark her territory. It doesn’t work.
“Brooke!” a loud booming voice says. She turned her head around so fast I thought her neck was going to snap. But it didn’t. I notice Scott walking very fast towards her. I feel like he hear everything she said because his face was enraged.
“Don’t ever talk like that to her ever again.” he said through clenched teeth. Her face dropped. Then she looked at me with the most disgusted look on her face and said “you’re too fat for him.” My face dropped and Brooke smiled knowing she got to me.
Im not fat. I only weigh 116 pounds, but people still call me fat because I had to go to fat camp when I was little because I was on the chubby side and ice cream was my best friend. It still hurts when they say that because it brings back such terrible memories.
Scott takes a seat next to me. His breaths are heavy and uneven. The muscles in his arms are at attention ready to defend me from the next person that tries to hurt me.
“Hey.” I say in a calming voice. He looks at me with those sad eyes again. “Don’t worry, Im okay.” I try to console him. It kind of works but he still has some tension in his body. I move closer to him and rap my arms around him, holding him tight. His breaths get evener and he holds me there. I look up at him and smile. He tells me my eyes are the most enchanting thing he has ever saw. I blush and turn my head away from him.
He grabs my face and slowly pulls it up. He pulls me into a kiss. The peace once again finding me and soothing my body. I feel every muscle in his body relax and loosen up. I look up at him and tell him he is amazing. He smiles.
We talk the entire lunch period about some many different things and we find that we have so much in common. It kind of baffles me.
“Olivia? Do you want to hang out today after school.” he asks. “Of course.” I reply.
We exchange numbers and finishing the lunch period talking about whether football is better than reading. Lets just say no one won that argument.
