"You're not going back there," Alaistair orders for the millionth time.

For someone so noble, he sure knows how to nag. At this point, I almost wish my eardrums would burst.

"And you're still not my brother," I respond nonchalantly without looking back at him.

Despite how dismissive I have been towards him, he remains persistent and continues to tail after me.

"Do I have to bring your brother here for you to listen?" Alaistair exclaims in disbelief and despite not looking at him, I can envision him rolling his eyes at the back of my head.

"There's no other way, Alaistair," I assert firmly.

"There are always other ways. You know that," Alaistair protests vehemently.

"Tell me then, what other way is there? Everyone wants to save Rosalia and you included, don't you?" I ask in frustration, coming to a halt.

I understand his intentions. I know what I am about to do is reckless, but honestly, what else can I do? What do I have left to lose by doing this?

Frankly, I probably stand to lose more if I do nothing.

Perhaps being around Casimir for such a long time has finally rubbed off on me.

If you were to tell me a few months ago that I would be stepping foot back in Arcton, I would have laughed at the ridiculousness. However, I suppose it is no longer as ridiculous of a plan as I used to think it was.

Alaistair's eyes betray a flicker of agreement, a fleeting acknowledgement that my point held undeniable truth. Despite this, a shadow of defiance clings to his expression, a silent protest against conceding defeat. It is evident he has exhausted his arsenal of counterarguments, leaving him with nothing more to say.

"It's really alright, Alaistair. You won't be held accountable for this. Corey would never blame you. He'll understand," I assure him, my voice softens as I see the struggle in his eyes.

As important as I am to Corey, Corey would understand that Rosalia is equally as important to Alaistair.

"I don't get it, Larissa. Why are you doing this? What do you have to gain from risking your life to save Rosalia's?" Alaistair questions, his eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.

I am instantly taken aback by his question.

He wants to save Rosalia, doesn't he?

Yet, why does it sound as though he is trying to convince me to do otherwise? Or rather, why does it sound like he wishes for me to not save her?

However, it's not only his demeanour that throws me off. In fact, his question has as well.

What exactly do I have to gain from doing this?
