As powerful as one may seem, there is always one small chink in their defense. It doesn't matter how powerful they are, there is always that one weakness. Sometimes, great heroes exploit it and win glory and respect for their victory over evil.
In my case, it wasn't a hero who won but for me, a nobody.
Nebol'shoy was the first casualty of the Alliance War. Hvit's soldiers, the krige, marched for nearly two weeks until they reached the town. The siege on Nebol'shoy lasted three months. By the time the krige took the city, we were too weakened to do anything about it.
Prisoners were taken to Hvit's fortress, Sokkelskrem while the dead and dying were left behind. That was the only reason why I wasn't taken to Sokkelskrem: a thirteen-year-old boy, weakened by hunger, buried under the ruins of a house, wouldn't last long.
And yet, I lived.
After news of the siege of Nebol'shoy reached Vysokaya's emperor, he demanded an explanation from Hvit's emperor, Lui Shirosagijo. The two countries were at each other's throats, and soon a full-blown war broke out.
Aportkal and Kitrinos, the Xcalibur and Zeus alliances respectively, were left to choose sides between Hvit and Vysokaya. Aportkal sided with Vysokaya, while Kitrinos remained neutral. The island country, Firiyi, a place of refuge in the Ydareth Sea's turbulent waves, remained truly neutral.
It was bloody and violent. Loved ones, hopes and dreams were lost. The common people lost much more than the stuck up and privileged aristocracy.
Hvit was the stronger side of the war, while Vysokaya made an admirable effort. It raged for nearly 10 years, and two years before it ends, a sixteen-year-old boy emerged from the ruins of Nebol'shoy, determined to destroy the lair of the dragon, Sokkelskrem.

So this story is an AU of the Beyblade Burst/Evolution/ (maybe?) Chozetsu anime. I came up with this AU two years ago and I've been working on it in my free time.
There was A LOT of (extremely) rough drafts, scrapped plot lines, ideas and research used to get this written to the best possible extent I could. Granted, I couldn't have done it by myself.
