"Wake. Up. Dear." Mom says as she shakes me awake quite forcefully, Her voice sounding strangely blank. "That's weird" I thought, but ignored it not thinking too much of it "Give me five Minutes, I'll get up soon!" I say in response, Rolling over with an exaggerated moan.
With No response, I hear my moms footsteps fading as she walks away downstairs. Not wanting to get up just yet, I check my phone as I always do in the morning for any messages. "Hey I actually have one" I whispered to myself in surprise as I opened the message. It read "IT'S NOT REAL. NONE OF IT. TRUST NO ONE. ESCAPE."
I froze. "What the heck!? Is this some kind of joke?" I wonder, slightly terrified. Finally after staring at my phone a bit more in bewilderment, I decide not to respond. I rise out of bed, set the phone down on the desk, and head downstairs. Still thinking about that text, and wondering what it could have meant. Catching myself in the mirror right before,
I notice that I look quite scraggly, my typically straight black hair is a tangled mess, and there's shadows bellow my eyes "I never really noticed how green my eyes actually are, Their really pretty" I thought, as I continued my way downstairs.
Reaching the last step, I notice that my baby brother of one year is crying in his crib. My sister of six, along with my parents are lined up facing me, all with a slight frown.You. Didn't. See. Anything. Strange. This. Morning. Did. You?" Asks mom and dad in unition with the same weird Tone mom had when she woke me up this morning. Both took a step forward. I think back to the text. "Umm actually yeah" I look at them with a confused expression, suddenly hit with a strike of panick "I got a really weird text this morning." I replied.
"Can. I. See. Your. Phone?" Mom asks. "Um... Sure. Let me go get it. I'll be right back." I walk up the stairs and grab my phone off of the desk where I left it, and walk back Downstairs, thinking of all the possible things that the text could mean. As I finally make it downstairs my mom reaches over and touches me. "She. Is. Not. Affected." I hear her say just before
a knife zooms past my head, missing it by an inch.
THUNK.
I hear it hit the wall behind me.
By the time I look up, I see my mom along with my little sister Zoe, whom I'd rarely ever even seen hold a butter knife, each carrying a huge steak knife. I see my dad reaching over for another. "WHAT IS GOING ON!?" I scream. Mom responds with "You. Are. Not. Affected. You. Must. Die."
I see Zoe lift her arm, and right before she throws I duck down.
THUNK!
Zoe's knife hits the wall behind me
I run up the stairs and back into my room. Locking the door behind me "WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY FAMILY!?" I think to myself. Heart pounding in my chest, I start barricading the door with my desk chair, My desk, anything big I can find in my bedroom. I hear them pounding on the door. Or was that my beating heart? I hear the lock click and hope that the barricade is enough to keep them out. I grab my school backpack, the biggest backpack I have, and dump the supplies out. I stuff a bunch of clothes, a flashlight, my phone, and my wallet in and slip on my slippers before opening my window that leads out onto the roof. I look back one more time and run back in, grabbing a few water bottles I was fortunate enough to have in my bedroom.I climb out the window and step onto the roof, blood pounding in my ears, it was like it was suffocating my head. "Stop, calm down, I have to be logical about this." I whisper to myself before walking slowly to the edge and tossing my backpack down. I grab onto the railing and get myself as low as I can before letting go, falling onto my bag.
Quickly recovering from the fall, I panic, running straight ahead, not paying any attention to my surroundings. Adrenaline is kicking in, I can't stop thinking as to what I need to do next, "Where should I go? What is happening!?" I ask myself. Then it hit me.
Looking around for Cover to hide from anything abnormal, I find myself stumbling upon an abandon car. I jump in and lock the doors as quickly as I can. Finally, I grab my phone out of my pocket, hands shaking, and I dial the number that sent me the text....
