Before Our Girl {Casualty}

Four

Leigh woke and groaned. She was feeling sick and didn't like it. She was still trying to wrap her head around the fact she was pregnant with her best friends baby.

Leigh walked downstairs in her house. She had a week off due to all the overtime she had been doing at work. Iain was coming over.

When she had made herself a hot chocolate, she sat on the sofa and text Iain.

"Bring me a bacon and sausage sarnie from the sandwich shop please - Leigh xx"

Leigh put her phone down and rubbed her stomach. Her bump was now visible and it was obvious she was expecting a baby.

The doorbell rang and Leigh called that it was open. Iain walked in with two bacon and sausage sandwiches for her.

Leigh grinned widely at him.
"Thank you so much!" Leigh said. She opened it immediately and began to eat it. Iain chuckled.
"Where's my kiss?"
Leigh grunted. "Sod off."

Iain chuckled and sat down beside her.
"How has pregnancy made you grumpier?" Iain asked.
Leigh shrugged and grinned. "Luck of the draw I would say."

Iain laughed and nodded. "What we doing today?" He asked.
"Decorating."
Iain groaned. "Leigh!"

Leigh walked over to him. "If you help me decorate the nursery for the baby you put inside of me, I will let you have sex with me."
Iain nodded. "You're On."

Leigh finished her sandwiches. Iain cleaned up. "Are we gonna find out the sex?" Iain asked.
Leigh nodded. "Yeah. That way we can focus on buying one colour," she said.
"Okay," Iain said. Leigh grinned and grabbed her phone.
"Becky has agreed to take us to the scan and then to the shopping centre."

Becky turned up and they got into her car. Taitlyn and Luke were in the back with Iain. Leigh sat in the front.
"You okay?" Becky asked. Leigh grinned and nodded.
"I'm so excited for the gender reveal."

Iain and Leigh began debating over which gender it would be but in the end neither of them cared.

Becky pulled up at the hospital.
"You two go on in. I'll park the car and get these two to the bathroom," Becky said.
Leigh smiled and nodded. She and Iain sat down. Iain took Leigh's hand. "It's gonna be a little boy."
"I think girl," Leigh said as she rubbed the bump.
Iain laughed and shrugged. "Well it's a 50/50."

Becky came over. Leigh grinned. "Iain thinks it's a boy," she said.
Becky shook her head. "No. You have a girl bump."
"And how would you know?" Iain asked. Becky looked at Taitlyn and then back to Iain.
"It's a mystery really."

Iain pouted. They got called in. Becky hugged her sister.
"Good luck," she said. Leigh grinned. She walked in with Iain.

Leigh laid on the bed and the midwife lifted up her top.
"So it's the gender reveal today then?" she asked. Iain nodded.
"Yeah. We're really excited."
Leigh grinned at Iain's enthusiasm. "He's excited if you can't tell."
"I can. It's cute."

The midwife did the scan and confirmed that although the baby was a little small, it was healthy. "Okay. Judging by between the legs, I see three lines which indicates a girl"
Leigh grinned and looked at Iain. "I told you!"

They left the room. Leigh had a grin on her face. "I told you so!"
"Yeah alright. Calm down. I can still convince her she likes football."

Leigh laughed. Becky waved them over.
"Well? Was I right?" Becky asked. Leigh grinned and nodded. Becky hugged them both.
"Congrats! Now both of you can help me with Luke when he needs his nappy changed."

Becky drove them to the shopping centre. Leigh and Iain discussed all that they wanted to buy. Becky knew she had some stuff from when Taitlyn was small to give them.
