Charlotte
I'm not really the psychotic killer type of person but I would gladly go for a genocide. If anyone could read my mind right now, they would run for their life.
Everything about crowds is just so revolting. The stink of sweat, unfamiliar bodies brushing against yours, not to mention, all of the elbowing. I don't really hate people so much in general but this is just repulsing. This has got to be one of the worst things that humanity has given rise to. Shopping has pretty much become my personal hell.
As I take a turn (with difficulty) to return home the long way round, my eyes pass over the green ones of a stranger. I keep walking as those pretty green eyes fill my head captivating me enough that I wouldn't even care if I walked into a pole. I don't realize it but I abruptly stop, my mind still on those green - they are so light, they seem bluer now that I think about it - eyes seem a bit confused.
I snap out of it as he snaps his fingers in front of my face. I cough awkwardly as I realize the eyes weren't from my memory. I was looking right into them as he stood in front of me trying to get my attention.
"Hey, you, new around here?"
I am still pondering about his angelic features. It is insulting that someone looking like that can actually exist at the same time as me. The pretty blue - or is it green, I can't seem to decide - eyes with those soft and sharp, elegant features.... It's all too overwhelming.
"Uhh... Hi I am James."
Its inhuman to look so flawless. It takes me a moment to asses what he says.
"I am... Lottie." I say, after what seems like a decade.
The cloudy sky, which now miraculously counters my previously thunderous mood, seems to be getting darker. My eyes roll up to the sky. I remember that I am getting late and that Scar will be ballistic if she is deprived of her chicken momos. I dodge him and start walking again. Realization hits me like the puberty that should have that I just revealed my name to a complete stranger.
"So, you are new around here. I haven't seen you around before."
"Uhh... Yeah..."
I curse myself for being so naïve. I put a spurt on to try and avoid him. James, being the tall perfect, incarnation of God himself, catches up.
"Hey, what's the hurry?"
Being the smartass that I am I lie through my teeth, convincingly and without any hesitation.
"I... need to be somewhere."
"Where?" Unanticipatedly I stop in my tracks and answer him, looking him dead in the eye.
"Will you stop following me if I say home?"
"No."
"Did I hear you right or did you just say, 'I am stalking you'?" Sarcasm dripping in every syllable.
He laughs, the sound of it so enchanting that I slip into a trance. The crooked smile, scrunching up his boyish features, bewitching me.
I snap out of it as I am reminded of his presence, so close to me. I start walking again.
"Hey! Slow down, I didn't catch your name." I roll my eyes.
"No, you did."
"Uhh...Right. Lottie, wait, I thought we were just getting acquainted."
I keep walking. Don't you even dare to tell me that I am playing hard to get. Scarlette is pretty much Lucifer with an empty stomach.
"For someone so short, you are way too fast." Says the 6-foot tall, literal definition of a bean pole.
"I am short so, I am closer to Satan."
"Ahh...that explains the sarcasm."
I surprise myself by laughing. He smiles at me. I feel my resolve breaking.
"There you go. Let me get you a drink."
I raise an eyebrow. He rolls his eyes.
"I mean starbucks."
He points across the street. As if on cue, it begins to drizzle. I nod.
