Kali's nest wasn't too far out, so she didn't waste a lot of energy coming. When she saw the beautiful worm, she was almost salivating! "Luke! You didn't have to get this for me! Oh, how kind you are." Kali said. She then pecked beaks with Luke. This made Luke feel very happy. But then suddenly Luke remembered about Esther. Oh no, it was Esther who caught the worm, not him! Luke felt guilty at once.
Esther was all alone in her nest. I do hope Luke is enjoying that worm, she thought, Perhaps he could pay my nest a visit soon. Because Esther was a bit bored in her nest and she loved Luke, she decided to fly back to his nest. As Luke's nest was so far away, she nearly fainted on her way there because of her lack of energy. But that's what you have to sacrifice for someone you love, she reassured herself.
She reached Luke's house with a nasty sight -- Kali was there pecking beaks with Luke! She felt betrayed: she had come all the way to Luke's without receiving anything and Kali, who lives round the corner to him, gets her beautiful worm.
Esther tried to fly away before Kali and Luke had noticed her, but it was too late. They stopped pecking, and Kali demanded to know why Esther had come.
Luke felt ashamed of himself for being unfaithful to Esther. He promised her that next time that he will eat the worm and stay truthful to Esther.
