I take a deep breath and waltz into the kitchen only to find it empty. I raise my brow in suspicion and head to the living room. I breathe a sigh of relief as I see them together on the couch watching the news. I smile a little before opening my mouth.
"Samchon, ajumma?" I begin in a quiet voice.
They turn to face me.
"Yes, Ae-ra?" Ajumma asks turning down the TV.
"Haneul was wondering if I could come over, is that alright with both of you?" I ask politely.
"Well if her family is okay with it, I don't see why not," samchon says with a small smile.
I smile in return and turn towards my aunt who smiles as well."Thank you," I say politely with a small bow before running back upstairs to grab some clothes.
I change into a comfortable blue sweater and slide into some black pants. I head to the bathroom and brush my hair neatly. I push my studs into my ears and apply some light makeup. I head over to Dohyun's bedroom.
I knock a few times before I hear him say "come in."
"Dohyun-ah," I say, proceeding into the messy bedroom which he is slowly cleaning up.
"Yeah?" He asks raising his head to look at me.
"Can you drive me to Haneul's house? Please?" I ask, pouting a bit.
He looks at me with disgust, "stop doing that, and sure," he replies, standing up and heading to his closet. I stand in the doorway, watching as he grabs a black hoodie and ripped jeans from his closet. He brushes past me and heads to the bathroom. I wait patiently by the door.
He emerges moments later. His hair is still messy but he doesn't seem to mind.
"Are you ready?" I ask, crossing my arms over my chest.
He walks over to me and messes my hair up.
"Ye, let's go," he says with a grin.
I just roll my eyes at him and follow him down the stairs.
"Eomma, appa, we're leaving," Dohyun tells my aunt and uncle. They turn to me and him and wave. I wave back and slip on a pair of converse. We head out the door and towards the car. Once inside I grab the AUX cord and plug in my phone. Dohyun eyes me funny.
"I swear if it's some crap song-" he begins before I quickly cut him off.
"Trust me, you'll like this," I reply confidently. He rolls his eyes as I shuffle through my playlist. I find an upbeat song that both of us like. I click the play button and sit back in my seat. Dohyun smiles and we sing along to the lyrics.
Not long after we arrive at Haneul's house.
"Do you need me to come inside?" Dohyun asks.
I contemplate on his question before replying with, "sure."
We lock up the car and head towards the front door. I haven't seen Haneul's parents in so long. I doubt they were at the house when we picked up Haneul to go shopping. I knock firmly on the door.
Moments later it lightly swings open to reveal a nervous looking Haneul. Her facial expression shocks me a little since she's always very cheery. In a blink of an eye, a white-toothed smile graces her face. I smile as we are both trying to act normal, even though we have important business to discuss. She pulls Dohyun and I into a tight embrace. I hug her back as she pulls us inside.
"Nice seeing you both again," she says with a wink. Dohyun slightly blushes. I scoff quietly.
"Ae-ra!" I hear two familiar voices squeal. I look over to see Haneul's parents standing in the hallway. I smile widely as they rush over to me.
