Amy sighs checking the time; Mark was supposed to be here a little over an hour ago. Through her annoyance she can't help but be concerned because she's sure he would have called if something came up. She blows out the candle and goes to sit on the couch glancing out the window into the still empty driveway. Another thirty minutes pass before she finally gives in and calls Tyler.

"Hey, have you seen Mark?" Chica comes over and rests her head on Amy's knee.

"Not since he left. Why is something wrong?"

"I'll let you know when I find out." She sends a text to both Ethan and Kathryn who both say similar things. "I'm sure he's okay pup." She says when the dog whines, but she can't ignore the feeling in the pit of her stomach. Her phone rings and she answers it immediately.

"Hello?"

"Is this Amy Nelson?" A professional voice says on the other end.

"Yes."

"We have a Mark Fischbach here at Lincoln Hospital. I can't say much over the phone due to regulations, but you should come at the earliest convenience." With that the call ends, and Amy has never gotten out the door faster. Her mind goes back to December to when he proposed.

*FlashBack*

"Are you going to tell me where we're going?" Amy asks has they drive by all the typical spots.

"You'll find out when we get there, and I can't tell you right now or it will ruin the surprise." Mark says smiling and really Amy can't help but fall for him all over again because there's really no way to describe Mark in a way that does him justice.

"Just so you know, I hate surprises."

"I know, but hopefully you'll love this one."

"Did you get another dog?"

"Would you have said yes?" She pauses and shakes her head smiling brightly at the other.

"I might have."

"But no it's not a dog but that could be in the cards." They arrive to a small park and the while it's chilly it's not bad enough to require a winter coat. Mark leads her down a well beaten path.

"Aren't we dressed a little too nice for a park?"

"We're going to dinner after this." The longer they walk the more nervous he gets. Abruptly he stops and turns to her. "Amy, I love you."

"I love you too."

"And I want to spend the rest of my life with you." She gets where this is going when Mark says that he gets down on one knee and pulls out a velvet box. "Forever and Always sounds too cliché but it's what I want with you. Through the good, the bad, the ugly, or whatever life throws our way. I just want to be with you, what I'm trying to say or ask anyway. Amy Nelson, will you marry me?" The woman just stands there in shock for a couple of seconds and Mark starts to fidget.

"Yes."

"I mean that's completely okay you don't have to...You said yes." He confirms.

"I did." He puts the ring on her finger and upon a closer look she notices that it has their birthstones on it. Smiling she helps him up and kisses him. "Thank you for being simple." She murmurs, and feels the laughter in his chest.

"Just you wait for the actual wedding. It's going to be the wedding that people will talk about until they die."

"I can't wait." And she means it.

*End of Flashback*

Amy parks the car quickly and as close to the entrance as she could get. Has she approaches the receptionists desk the older woman behind it smiles at her.

"I just got a call about Mark Fischbach." They lead her down a million halls a maze that never seems to end. The nurse leading her also talks about what happened but she can barely hear them. Once reaching the room she pauses outside to get her bearings. Trying to keep a straight face she opens the door, and her resolve almost breaks at the sight that greats her. Mark is covered in bandages and attached to machines. From what she gathered words from the nurse 'eternal bleeding'and 'under 20 percent chance of being able to walk.' But all Amy can do is sit by his bed and hold his hand maybe too tight and say "You're late."

"I got a bit preoccupied, can you find it in yourself to forgive me." He says laughing and wincing.

"I might be able. Only if you explained to me what happened, because over the phone they made it sound like you were dying."

"I hit my head really hard in the collision and was unresponsive for a while so they were worried about brain damage but," he pats his head "I have a thick skull."

"Don't scare me like that again."

"I'll try my best."

"Also I'm putting you in charge of telling Tyler." Mark goes still at that staring at his fiancé for a second.

"Why do I have to tell him?"

"So he knows you're actually alive, and because you just took ten years off my life."

"Well he might actually suffocate me." Amy laughs because despite the fact that she has a protective streak a mile long it's Tyler who is the real mom friend.

"I'm sure you can survive being taken care of for a couple of months," at least until he gets used to the whole not being able to walk deal, but he doesn't need to know that just yet. She sends a text telling everyone Mark is in the hospital but okay. "The others will be here shortly." And he groans.

"I really wish I could hate you sometimes."

"No you don't." She presses a kiss to his forehead and settles next to him the best she can.

"You're hiding something, but they have me on enough medication that I don't really care at the moment."

"So are you." She wraps her hand around his wrist to feel his pulse. "Everything will be okay Mark." Amy whispers softly listening to his breathing and feeling his heartbeat she lets herself drift off.
