A year long game of Hide and finally seek

MELISSA'S POV

I woke up the next morning to a bed of my own.

Cole had spent the night for "moral support' and somehow he got Harper to sleep in her own bed.

I just hope that no one disturbs me while I'm working at the daycare.

Since it's a hot June I get up and take a cool shower and get dressed for work.

I decide to dress for the weather and put on white shorts and a navy blouse. I throw my caramel brown hair into side braided bun and braid goes from one side of my head to the other sidewhere the bun is. I add a little mascara to my light green eyes and head out of my bedroom.

When I get in my kitchen dining area I hear Cole whistle.

I turn his way and roll my eyes at him

"Cole I'm not in the mood for fun today.", I tell him.

He just laughs and continues eating his food.

"Well, while you were getting ready, which might I add took forever, I got your niece ready for school all by myself.", He says in a matter of fact tone and puts his nose in the air

"Good job Cole! You wanna a sticker now?", I ask him as if I was praising one of the little kids in daycare.

He just glares and me, says nothing and cleans the dishes.

I see that he has already dressed Harper in pink shorts and a multicolored striped t-shirt.

He had even has done her hair in braid pigtails and fed her breakfast.

I turn to Harper and smile at her.

"You ready to go?" I ask her

"Yes Aunt Lissa." She says

"Okay let's get you to school.", tell her and put on one strap of her backpack on one shoulder and pick her up to place her on my hip.

Harper takes a bus to kindergarten and it is about a 10 minute walk to her bus stop.

Sometimes she walks there, but most times I end up carrying her.

I don't even get how people would think I am her mom because Harper and I don't look alike.

Harper looks a lot like her dad Grant.

Even though he always has a crew cut or shorter, she has his light brown hair. She also has his aqua blue eyes.

My sister and I have almost the same hair color, but her hair is a few shades darker than mine. We have the same exact light green eyes and facial features.

She's only three years older than me.

Cole decides to walk with us and then to the daycare with me.

I tell him to grab my bag and jacket for me while heading towards the door.

We head out of my apartment and to Harper's bus stop.

When we get there we only have to wait a few minutes for the bus to get there.

I tell Harper goodbye and head off with Cole to work.

We walk in silence for the first minute until Cole breaks the silence

"Do you wanna go take Harper to a movie tonight?" He asks
