Author's note: At the time of writing this chapter, I haven't slept more than an average of 3 hours of sleep per night. Therefore, this chapter's kinda (okay, super) late, and may have terrible SPaG. Sorry!
"DIPPER!" Pacifica cried out in vain as the door blew in the wind. He had already left, unable to face Mabel in her rage. "what did you do...?" Pacifica mumbled under her breath. Getting no response from Mabel, she raised her voice. "I said. What. Did. You. DO?!" She grabbed Mabel's arm and turned her around so the two girls were facing each other. "You told me this could be your one chance to reconcile with him before this 'thing' happens and changes everything! I can't believe you just...threw it away!" Mabel sighed and lowered her tense, mad posture. She brushed a strand of hair from her eye and sighed.
"I really blew it, huh?" She sat down and slumped against the wall. Pacifica sat next to her.
"Only a little...maybe you could follow him and-"
"No."Mabel took a deep breath. "I know it's too late for us to be friends again, and I finally understand why. He was protecting me, and I just yelled at him! I've been so worried about this 'big bad' that's on its way, that I forgot how to be a good person! I'm being a big bad, Pacifica! A big bad jerk!" She slammed her head against the bookshelf and sighed. "I just...I don't think he'd accept the apology..."
Pacifica smiled at her. "Mabel, he forgave me! And I was, like, a grade A snob! I'm sure he'd be okay." She looked Mabel in the eyes. "I really don't think you're as bad as you make yourself out to be in your head." Mabel sighed. Pacifica was being so genuine, and it made her feel unable not to take her word as gospel.
"You're right. He'd forgive me." Mabel stood up, took out Dipper's journal from her bag, and looked at her reflection in the tree on the cover. "I'll give him a minute to cool down, though. Wanna read through this thing with me to see where he'd probably go if he were upset?" A hand rested on Mabel's shoulder, kinder than the gloved one she'd grown accustomed to last summer.
"You bet!"

Dipper collapsed next to the metal tree, unable to keep running. Tears were streaming down his face, and he couldn't take it anymore. His head pounded like never before, and the words that had escaped his sister's mouth burned into him like hot irons. Did she really hate him that much..?
His tears splashed on his knees as he pulled them closer to his body. His hat slipped lower so his face was hidden, and he stayed there, still as a statue, his rapid breaths the only thing proving he were alive.
You're worthless
Useless
Your own sister doesn't love you.
All you are is weakThe words spun around his head, worsening his mood every second. He tried cutting his mind off, but it felt like his heart was going to burst. It had always been them two together, and, for the first time since Weirdmageddon, he felt truly alone.
Hours passed. The insults didn't stop, and he no longer felt the pain from them. He still hadn't moved, but he long ran out of tears to cry. A distant call barely caught his attention.
"Dipper? Where are you...?"
Mabel came running closer, having spotted his blue hat. "DIPPER!" She ran close and say next to him. "I'm so sorry! Dipper, can you forgive me...?"
"Dipper isn't home right now." His voice was cold and hard, yet hoarse from crying. Mabel shuffled back slightly, shocked from the answer.
"Then...when will he be here?"
The insults of who he was swirled around his head. He didn't want to be that boy anymore. Mabel probably didn't want him back anyway...
He shrugged, still not moving his head. "I don't know. Possibly never. You never liked him anyways..."
"Dip dop, don't be stupid! I love you-"
"No, you didn't. You were just passing the time." He sighed. "You could love me if I knew how to lie, but no one could love him. If you think you did, you're out of your mind." He looked up at her face, his eyes red from crying. "And you look pretty sane to me."
"Dipper, please. Fight off this doubt! I believe in you-" she reached out, but he stood up and ran away. Once about ten meters away, he stoped, and turned to her.
"Believe is built on lies." He turned away again. "I'm not him anymore. I don't want to be him anymore. Please just give me this."
She'd held the world upon a string, and it'd finally snapped. Everything she'd ever known had smashed, and all she could do was smile.
"Okay then...if that's really what you want." But she said it to no one; he was already gone.
