I was sleeping in. Well, what I thought I was gonna be doing. When I heard laughter. My eyes slowly opened, staring straight at the ceiling. The laughing was coming from the living room. "My day off," I mumbled, "and I have to hear laughter." I sat up and grabbed my phone, slipping it into my sweatpants pocket.
I marched down the stairs, my hair a mess. My mom, Kaylie, and Ame laughing their ass off. "I know, that Y'all are having the time of your lives," I interrupted and they slowly looked at me with wide eyes. "But I would care for some sleep." I then turned and went back up. I laid back down, as soon as I closed my eyes. They were wide open as more laughter came.
"This is stupid," I groaned and slapped a pillow over my head. I understand but Jesus. My phone beeped, and I looked at it.
Kyle: what's up, Devin?
Devin: oh nothing. Just staring at the ceiling of my room.
Kyle: why? That seems boring.
Devin: It is. When I have three girls (meaning my friends and my mom) in the living room laughing.
Kyle: Oh.. dang, wanna come to the farm and catch some sleep?
I was blushing like crazy at the offer. Should I? Or should I not? I was pondering for a bit when more laughter came.
Devin: Yeah. I'll come, I'll be there in a few.
Kyle: Okay, I'll be waiting.
I slipped my phone in my pocket. I grabbed my truck keys and slipped on my shoes. I walked down, and they started giggling at the last laugh. They were watching YouTube. "Where are you going?" Mom asked me "to Kyle's farm. He offered to catch some sleep, while y'all laugh." Kaylie smirked along with Ame. My mom wiggles her eyebrows suggestively.
"No," I said bluntly knowing what she was hinting at. With that, I left the house and went to the farm. Once I was there, Kyle stood there with a welcoming smile. "Ready for sleep?" He asked noticing my sleepy face. "Yes," I whispered "very much ready." He led me inside and into the guest room. "Thanks, Kyle." He nodded and closed the door behind him.
I laid down after taking my shoes off. Once I laid down, the peace and quiet lulled me to sleep.
•two hours later•
I woke up and fixed my hair with my fingers. I went down to the kitchen. I knew Kyle's house basically from memory. But, it's not every day I go in it. "Sleep well?" Kyle asked as I stepped into the kitchen. "Yes, I did thanks for asking." I smiled and grabbed a glass and poured me orange juice. He was leaned up against the counter sipping coke. "No problem," he said in between sips. "Is there anything Y'all want to be done around the farm?" I asked "it's your day off. So, no, we don't want anything done around the farm." Kyle said bluntly.
"Well, though I asked just to be sure," I said rinsing the glass out. That's when I felt hands around my waist. I blushed when I noticed it was Kyle. Obviously, it was him. He is the only one in this house. "K...Kyle?" I asked shyly he turned me around. "Yes, Devin?" He mocked asked, looking at me closely like he has never seen me. He was so close that his breath fanned my face. "What are you doing?" My question sounded miles away, as I watched him lean in farther. He didn't even answer the question. He didn't need to. He pressed his lips against mine.
At first, I was shocked once it wore off. I kissed him back wrapping my arms around his neck. He may be slightly taller than me. But, still, I had to be on my tip toes just to wrap my arms completely around him. The kiss only lasted a good solid minute. Before he pulled away. I was red-faced. I didn't know if he would regret it or liked it. He was the one who kissed me first. "Devin," he paused and took a long one at that. My heart was racing and I was shaking. "I like you, I know it's sudden but I've been watching you, and your smile brings light to my world. I wanna take you out." He confesses.
I was blushing red "okay, when do you wanna take me out?" I asked as he stared at me with a breathtaking smile. That made my heart do leaps. "Friday, after school." I smiled "Alright." He grinned "be ready at 8" I nodded and he hugged me tightly. I grinned and he let me go home.
When I got home. I told them what had happened and they squealed. I had to cover my ears. "Dang busted eardrum." They apologized afterward. "You're not going to school Friday." My mom said and I groaned "okay." I decided not to protest. "I'm getting you ready." Kaylie said, "and I'm doing your hair." Ame announced. "I'm taking pictures!" My mom added. My cheeks were a light shade of pink as they said that. "God, Y'all are going out on this." They nodded frantically.
I groaned and we ate dinner and went to bed.
