Five (Rebel)

Nova came in and woke us up early.

"Get y'alls punk asses up. Today we start training for the real shit. This is your last fucking week being babied. Either you make it or you don't. Gym in five." She yelled

She made us do two hundred of everything and run eight laps.

After we ate breakfast we already knew to go to the gym.

"Today will be a little different. I've changed how you'll be sparring. You've probably gotten used to your original partners habits and licks.  Today will test if you truly have skill. You fight until the other can't physchially move or until I say stop. If you're too scared to fight and would like to tap out we'll have to give you a punishment. You will not get points and the opponent will get 3 points added to their rank. Understood?" She said

"Sir, yes sir." We all said in unison.

I was the fifth fight in and they paired me with a girl that didn't know anything about what she was doing.

I was so ready to fight but in this moment I realized I didn't have the heart to do it. As soon as Nova told us to fight I tapped the mat and everybody gasped staring at me.

"Katana what the hell are you doing?" Nova said

"I can't do this." I said and hopped off the mat.

"Do a wall sit until the last fight is done. You can only break in between fights. Go." She said

After everybody was done she dismissed us and as I was walking out she grabbed me by my shirt and slung me backwards.

"What the fuck is your problem Sword?" She yelled

"I don't wanna fight." I said rubbing my sore thighs.

"Bullshit you were one of the best sparrers and now all of a sudden you can't fucking fight. Bitch you took me down with little effort but you tapped out. What was it mercy?" She said

"A little. I clearly wasn't a good sparrer if my partner kept getting hurt." I said

"In this world you can't have fucking mercy. Nobody is going to have mercy for you." She yelled

"Well I'm not fighting. I don't care about cuts. I don't have a motive to hurt these people." I said

"Come with me." She said and yanked me off the floor.

I started limping quickly trying to match her pace as she walked me down a hall. She knocked on a door and I finally met Caspian.

"Rockell correct? " he asked

"Katana now."  I said

"Nice choice." He said nodding his head.

"Caspian this isn't a social call she's being stupid." Nova said pushing me into the office and slamming the door.

"Is she disobeying orders because if so you should be able to handle that." He said to her.

"She refuses to fight. She's one of the best Selectives here and she's going to suffer cuts because of mercy." She said

"Mercy?" He said staring at me.

"Me fighting is what got me in here. As much damage as I've done to people twice my size I could never do that to somebody unprovoked." I said

"Katana you can't have feelings when living like this." Caspian said

"Well then I guess I just won't have this life." I said

"Caspian?" Nova pleaded

"Nova it's her choice. I know you like her talent, shit I was impressed too and we could use a person like her here but rules are rules and her decisions are her decisions." He said
