" SWEET DAUGHTER "
Bastard daughter to the god and king of the gods Jupiter, Venus grew up a princess with a Queen for a mother who despised her guts.
To her she held no title other than bastard and were it not for the fact that she was born a goddess, surely she would have been thrown to the hounds as an infant.
By the time she had become a full grown woman she had not been allowed beyond the castle walls any longer for her father believed that her beauty and virtue was something that needed protection. King Jupiter loved his children but above all he saw his daughter as a valuable asset in the twisted political game that he called his reign.
Venus had been promised to a man before, but you couldn't call her father a man of his words and once he could no longer see any gain in the arrangement and political tension started to arise with Asgards ruler Odin, he was only too happy to break off the engagement.
She had always known that one day the time would come for her father to trade her for something he wanted and now he was giving her away like she was some prized possession and used her as a peace offering as if she was not a living breathing thing.
All the gods had demanded her as their wife, despite none of them even having met her once. And the king enjoyed being the puppeteer, making mortals and gods alike dance and fight for his daughters hand - he could only gain from the bloodshed.
Yet the girl not once complained nor rebelled. Instead she accepted her fate and when the king announced that she was to marry the god of thunder she hoped that perhaps in Asgard she'd find the love she had always desired.
Perhaps her soon to be husband would appreciate her gentle heart and beauty instead of lock it away and use it whenever it pleased him. She remembered her brothers rage so very clearly when the queen had arrived with the news of Odin agreeing. She remembered him throwing over a table in anger, grabbing her by the shoulders so tightly it had left bruises and swearing by the moon that he would not let her marry a savage. Her now fiancé in another realm was not very pleased about this bethrothal either. While Venus knew very little of him besides the fact that lighting and thunder cursed trough his veins, he knew absolutely nothing of Venus.
Thor had been upset with the Allfather for weeks now for choosing his bride and his fate without consulting him first. And how amusing his brother seemed to find the entire situation angered him even more. Loki would hum wedding tunes whenever Thor passed by and ask him what he thought her wedding dress would look like. One time he had almost thrown Mjolnir at his brother.
The god of thunder would much rather go out on adventures and fight in battle with his friends than entertain a wife. Of course Thor would never treat her badly but still, he wished for nothing less.
