ONE | "It was me."

The Following Day: 12:03pm

"...It was a normal evening at Metro-General when a lone gunman entered and began firing into the crowd. Most of the patients are being moved to other area hospitals-" Laurie shuts the radio off immediately and lets a soft gasp fall out of her mouth.

For the last couple weeks, there had been talk of a gunman on the radio. This gunman had been involved in many gang related shootouts, reports of him has been frequent. The more of them reported, the more pieces of the puzzle were put back together. Every single time Laurie heard it on the radio, she's always thought of Frank, she doesn't know why, but she does. She never forgot anything Frank said the last time she saw him, it explains a lot.

Laurie sighs harshly, as she rubbed her eyes. "It's not him." She reasons with herself as she sits up, swinging her legs over the bed. Whatever he's doing he's doing it alone, and it has nothing to do with her. Yeah, right. She tells herself.

Standing up, she stretches her body slowly, the radio alarm sounding again after a five minute snooze. She shuts off her alarm and begins her morning/afternoon. She doesn't bother with breakfast for now, she hasn't had much of an appetite when she wakes up since her irregular sleeping hours.

Checking the time on her watch left on the windowsill, she reads it out. "Twelve o' seven." Her shift doesn't start until three, but luckily that gives her more then enough time to get herself ready.

She let Frank's words linger at the back of her mind for now- which would probably revisit her later- and started her day by showering.

3:17pm

"...there is said to be no named suspect at the time, but that the Metro General shooting is related to the Kitchen Irish massacre that took place all last night..."

She can't get away from it. The news was everywhere. Thankfully, the voice of the anchorwoman is overlapping with Laurie's coworker whom taps her on the shoulder as she passes.

     "Your table wants you."

Those words make Laurie sigh in relief. She clears her throat before making her way to the table in waiting, the only one she has this afternoon so far. It's a woman who hasn't ordered anything all morning, she sits with a scarlet fedora hat, a purple scarf around her neck, and a big scar on her lip. Laurie averts her eyes as it seems like she's staring, but the woman sitting there welcomes her with a sly smile.

Laurie smiles back. "Is there anything else I can help you with?"

The woman nods her head. "More coffee, please, and one of your sweetest treats."

"Sure, one moment." Laurie departs from the table to go behind the diner's counter.

Out of Frank's sight, he sips his coffee as he waits for her to come back where he can see her.
