RECAP

"Well I'll see you later then," I called up to him smiling and waving. He smiled and waved back and I turned continuing on my way down the steps, but kept looking in my peripheral vision to see if he was still there. When I saw him go into the building I walked over to the bushes to get my friends, but there was no one in sight.

Great, I thought with a sigh, I bet they went to get some things. Things include movies, junk food, and other various items that might get us into trouble, no alcohol or drugs included in this list of various things. When I started to walk away I heard someone clapping behind me. I turned around thinking that it would be Whitney, but was surprised when I saw Allen leaning on the school's doorframe.

He wore a white shirt with a black skull and other designs with a blue jacket and black jeans with holes in the knees. Sneakers on blonde/brown hair cut short and brown eyes sparkling with a challenge as usual. I narrowed my eyes at him wondering what he wanted. He was sort of my rival, but in a fun way. We joked around and were always trying to beat each other at anything and everything. Sometimes he could really get on my nerves.

He pushed himself off the wall. Still clapping lazily, he started walking toward me and said "Another great performance of the amazing Adriane Hawkeye." He stopped clapping when I said "Like you could do any better." He stopped in front of me and shrugged "Probably not."

I widened my eyes in surprise. Did Allen Walker just admit that I could do something better than him!? I narrowed my eyes "What do you want Walker?" I asked never taking my eyes off of him as he walked past me, running a hand through his messy hair. "I just wanted to come by and say hi." and with that he left.

I shook my head wondering what that was about and started on my walk home. Allen never usually acted like that, is he feeling ok? As I got walked off the school property Silvermist appeared out of no where like usual and walked along beside me. We walked home in silence and I kept glancing around just in case I could spot Katherine or Noah somewhere. I decided to take the long way home just because.

As we neared the apartments I looked up at the sky shifting the heavy weight of my backpack to a more comfortable position. The sky was ever darkening with more and more clouds gathering.

Shaking my head at the sky we both walked through the building and into the hallway heading up the stairs toward the door to my apartment when I heard whispering. I crouched, pressing my back against the banister and slowly made my way up the stairs. Sil slinking up the stairs in a similar manner. After having your house blown up at young a young age you kind of get cautious when you hear whispering near the place where you sleep.

I peered around the small wall and saw my to best friends sitting in front of my apartment door talking with grocery bags and backpacks beside them. I knew it! I thought, smile creeping on my face. I turned to Silvermist and gave her a reassuring smile and started to get up out of my crouched position.

"Who did that guy think he was stopping us in the middle of stupid street and telling us lies about one of our friends. Acting like he knows everything in the whole god damn world?!?" Katherine suddenly yelled making me jump.

I brought my attention back to the scene happening in front of me, eyes wide. What guy, and what lies?!? What do they know and what did they tell them? Is that friend me? Of course it has to be me, but then again.... These question burned in my head. If Kat and Noah found out about my secrets I don't know what would happen.

I saw Katherine on her feet the brown bag of groceries that was propped up against her laid on its side with its contents spread out on the floor. "I have no idea. You need to calm down before the neighbors hear you," Noah said getting up and walking over to the spilled bag and started putting things back in.

"I mean what's up with the hobo outfit and British accent?! He has to be a double agent or something like that. And which friend is he talking about?!" Katherine said pacing back and forth in front of my door. So it seems they still have no idea. I sighed as quietly as I could as a feeling of relief washed through me, but a hobo with a British accent, now I'm worried.

Noah is still picking of the groceries and Kat was blocking his path to the last bag of chips by pacing so he grabs her legs and stops her from moving and finishes picking of the mess that Katherine had made.

As he set the bags against the wall to avoid them from facing the wrath of Katherine Lockhart again. He then stood up and said "First off he wasn't a hobo. He was wearing what looked like brand new clothes. Secondly stop pacing." He grabbed Kat by the shoulder just as she was making another pass by. "Thirdly he didn't have a British accent it was an American accent. And last, but not least you're exaggerating. You should quit worrying about that guy and worry more about Adriane. She should have been here around 30 minutes ago." Noah finished, letting go of her arms.

Katherine took a deep breath and closed her eyes. I studied the two of them for a second. They both looked pretty shaken. I wonder what really had happened. Just then Katherine opened her eyes wide and said "It's Adriane! The person he was talking about is Adriane." When the words left her lips I felt a cold chill run through me. I was honestly scared of what they had found out.

Noah just shook his head and laughed. "When have you ever known Adriane to lie to us plus if you haven't noticed she's a terrible liar." That almost made me almost laugh out loud of both relief again and at the fact that he was dead wrong I am an awesome liar and I have lied to them, but I held it in and kept listening. "Yeah, I guess you're right," Kat said looking a little disappointed at not being able to figure it out.

I decided to finally show myself so I backed down the stairs to look at least somewhat normal. Silvermist was already ahead of me. I stood up straight and stretched, Sil did the same. Being like that for that long hurts your back. As I bent back down I scratched Sil behind her ear and whispered "Well that was interesting," and stood back up. Silvermist just shook her head and her eyes glinted. Ready to face my friends I slowly walked up the stairs.

My mind was going a million miles a minute. Who was the man that they were talking about? Do I know him? What did he tell them? And why go to them? What do my friends have to do with it? I practically already know that it was about me so what do they want? Are they the same people who killed my family? Will they go after my friends next? Will I soon run into that guy? What is going to happen when I walk up the rest of these steps?

I decided that my imagination was getting the best of me and that I'd find out soon enough. So until then I'll just have to be on guard for anything suspicious.
