Chapter 8: A monster

I slowly open my eyes before I see Sam on the ground with his hand on his shoulder. The flashlight dropped near him before I start to panic and walk over towards him. Placing the gun on the table, I look at him.

"Look at him. He's weak just like everybody else. He wants to die." the voice says convincingly

"Kid. What are you doing? Don't just stand around there. Help me for gods sake!" Sam says still holding his shoulder

Blood slowly dripped on the wooden floor before I grab my gun from the table and aim it at Sam. Something changed...I no longer had sympathy for Sam or anyone.

"Yes...thats it. Now all you have to do is pull the trigger."

I hold the handgun with one hand before saying to Sam

"What was that saying? You can't trust anybody even if they trust you?"

Sams eyes widened before I search his uniform and found his tracker. Looking at it, I look at Sam before the voice says

"He betrayed you. Why should you let him live? He doesn't deserve freedom, he deserves to be punished."

Sam gave me a confused look when I said

"Why should you live? He betrayed you. You don't deserve freedom, you deserve to be punished."

Sam held his hands up in defense before saying

"Kid don't listen to it. He's warping your mind. Come on. Put dwon the gun."

As he said that I felt angered. I smile and say

"Any last words before I put you out your misery?"

Sam looks at me more confused before I pull the trigger and turn around. I look back at Sam and see his body not moving. Not talking. Blood slowly making its way towards the door. The tracker glowed red before it turned green. I quickly grab the smg and walk into the bedroom. Looking for a closet or somewhere to hide, I pin myself against the wall before hearing the door creep open. Flashlights hovered like ghost before I heard a man say

"Clear! We got a body."

I then hear more footsteps coming in before I hear somebody else say

"A good soldier. Have we recovered the boy?"

I quickly recognized the voice. Edward. I peek around the corner to see three guards. Edward walked into the kitchen before saying

"Go check around this dump and see if we could find anything useful to help us relocate him."

As he said that, I heard one of the guys in military uniform say

"Sir the tracker is in here and it has a heat signature."

My heart raced before Edward says

"Find him and bring him alive."

I quickly load my handgun before silently putting down the smg. I look over to the bed before jumping on it and quietly getting on the floor. I see the guards walking in before one of them says

"Sir we have a weapon."

I hear Edward walking before I take a deep breathe and spring up. They look at me before I take out my gun and shoot two of the guards in the head. The third guard aims his smg at me before Edward yells

"I want him ALIVE!!" he says before walking off

I smile before I put my hands up and walk towards him. He kicks my legs forcing me on my knees and is about to handcuff me with zipties. I turn around and grab my knife before stabbing him in the dick. The guards winces in pain before falling to his face. I pull the knife out before walking over him and looting the other three guards. I pack extra clips in my uniform before reloading my gun and walking into the kitchen. A duffel bag sat next to him before I open it and see it is empty.  I quickly take the duffel bag before packing the extra handguns and one smg in there. The bag being heavy, I put it on my back and wore it as a book bag.  I look at Sam who has a bullet hole in his skull and close his eyes before saying

"You betrayed me so now I  don't trust anyone."

I quickly walk out the front door and hear beeping before I turn around follow the sound. I see a touch screen tablet with a map and a marker. Looking at the tracker beeping green I threw it before it turns red. I quickly  run and place it in the side pocket of the duffel bag before walking out. I look at the tablet and see the shore and from where I am...its very far. I see another ping and see a message on the top right statiing

"Did you find the boy Arnolds?"

I didn't respond, but now I had a new plan. To eliminate every guard that is in that prison and kill Edward. I continued to walk before I was getting attacked by mosquitos and flys. Swapping them off, I saw a snake slithering behind me. I quickly ran away from it and fell down a hill. I stopped falling before I found  I frantically look for the tablet and see  its screen is cracked before it stops working and freezes. I groan in anger before I threw the stupid piece of technology somewhere where it made a clink sound. Carefully walking towards it, I see a fire lit with sticks and somebody walking away from it. I get down on my stomch before watching the person from above as he or she picks up the tablet and looks up at the sky. The person analysis the tablet before walking somewhere. I quickly get up and crouch before turning my flashlight on and carefully trying to make my way to the warm blaze. As I climb over a few rocks and in marshland, I felt something like a bite before I feel it and see a needle with green liquid before I fall on the soft grass.
