lavender ran through the meadow full of beautiful meadow of wildflowers, ocean trailing close behind.

"wait up!" ocean called after her. the messenger bag around her shoulders bounced as she tried to keep up with her.

they eventually approached the willow tree in the middle of the meadow, their spot. lavender threw herself on the ground, giggling slightly.

"couldn't slow down, could you?" ocean panted.

"how could i? gosh, i love nights like these!" lavender replied, a big smile on her face.

ocean's face darkened with blush. she loved seeing her genuinely happy, not that fake smile she sometimes plastered on homeworld.

the sky was a beautiful purple-orange-pink gradient, perfect for the start of a date. ocean pulled a  blanket out of the bag and laid it on the ground. she sat on it and motioned for lavender to do the same.

lavender inhaled the sweet scent of the surrounding meadow, and turned to look at ocean. however, her face dropped from a look of happiness to upset.

"what's wrong?" ocean questioned, looking up from the iced tea she was pouring in a glass.

"do you ever think about what would've happened if we didn't leave?" lavender asked.

ocean sat up, startled by the question.

"i try not to." she sighed.

"just to think we could never be together...scares me, i guess." lavender added.

"try not to think about it, love. that was hundreds of years ago. you are here, you are alive, and you are loved." ocean replied, cupping lavender's face with her hand.

"i love you, ocean." she said, a small smile on her face.

"i love you too, dear." ocean responded. "now drink, you need the relaxation." she said, handing the cup of tea to lavender. she took it and took a sip.

they sat up talking for awhile, about everything, about nothing, laughter occasionally breaking the silence of the night.

eventually, their eyes started to droop with sleepiness.

lavender laid her head in ocean's lap, looking up at the night sky glimmering through the leaves of the willow tree. ocean gently stroked her head, her hands running through her soft hair. lavender started to drift.

"deep in the meadow, under the willow.
a bed of grass, a soft green pillow.
lay down your head, and close your eyes.
and when they open, the sun will rise.here it's safe, and here it's warm.
here the daisies guard you from every harm.
here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true.
here is the place where I love you.deep in the meadow, hidden far away.
a cloak of green, a moon beam ray.
forget your woes, and let your troubles lay.
and when again it's morning, they'll wash away.here it's safe, and here it's warm.
here the daisies guard you from every harm.
here your dreams are sweet, and tomorrow brings them true.
here is the place where I love you."
