Two months have already passed and it was time to go out on the battlefield. By that time Joey and Louie had already finished packing. Louie looked very confident, but Joey wasn’t. He was very afraid to fly all the way to the middle of the United States and fight it to the death. Of course, he didn’t want to show his emotions, so he smiled. It looked like a very, very fake smile.
“Well,” the leader said. “I guess this is goodbye.”
“Yeah,” Joey said in a calm voice. “I guess it is.”
“Well,” the leader said with his voice cracking. “I guess I will see you guys in a few years?”
“………..” Louie had a straight face. He didn’t want to say anything. He only had tears in his eyes. He looked away and went straight out the door, and Joey followed him.
I was a long time since Joey stepped out of this door. He had never been outside the house for more than twenty minutes and he already missed home. The worst thing was that they had to WALK all the way to airport which was ten miles away and it took seventeen hours to get there. During the walk Joey and Louie were getting exhausted and very hungry. They looked homeless and they stunk a lot. Every time they passed a person they would hold their nose and run away. They were in a rush so they got to the airport three hours earlier. They turned in their ticket as fast as they can and rushed inside the plane, so they can relax. They were landing right between Kansas and Nebraska. It was a four hour flight and all they did for the whole flight was sleep, so they can come out fresh in the war………. they hope.
