Joey and Louie finally arrived at the border between Nebraska and Kansas and they felt really good after sleeping for four hours, but they didn’t feel really good because they were just about to go out to war. When they got out of the airport, it was very dark. No one was around and they could see some soldiers still coming out of the airport. Some were French and some were American. Joey and Louie had no idea where to go so they just followed the soldiers walking to the place where they were supposed to be. After a very long time, they got to where they were supposed to be, because the soldiers knew the way to the army camp. They saw tents in a very long column on the grass with a huge tent in the middle, and every single soldier seemed to be going inside of it. Joey and Louie really had no choice but to go inside the tent with the other soldiers.

When they went inside the tent, they saw all of the soldiers sitting down and having a little chat. When Joey and Louie both went inside, the talking stopped. They all stared at the twelve-year-old kids dressed in uniforms which meant that they were supposed to participate in the war. A tall man with a large beard stood up and started approaching Joey and Louie.

“Hello, you must be Joey and Louie,” said the man.

“Yes, we are Joey and Louie,” said Louie.

The man looked at the groups of talking people and said, “People! This is Joey and Louie. They are going to participate in the war!”

Everything was quiet for a second, and then all a huge laughter started to form. Joey and Louie were very embarrassed. The tall man had a serious face, still looking at the crowd of people. The crowd all looked at the tall man, and stopped laughing. Joey thought that the man said, “Guys I’m serious, stop laughing” with no words.

“Let me introduce myself,” the tall man said. “I am General Robert Mannisferd, but please, call me Robert.”

            “Hi Robert,” Louie said.

Joey didn’t feel like saying hi to Robert. He had butterflies in his stomach, and he felt like he had to throw up.

“Joey, you look a little green. Are you ok?” said Robert.

“Oh I’m fine!” Joey said with a retch. “Just give me a second.”

Joey stepped outside breathing heavily again and again and again. He went into the woods and puked because he was so nervous. He went back to the camp where he saw Louie walk into a tent. Joey saw that and he followed Louie to the tent.

The tent wasn’t very big and it was very cramped. Joey and Louie literally had to squish against each other in order to actually sleep. While they were sleeping, Joey thought of something.

Is this actually worth it? Would I rather die from a huge giant meteorite than die for my country? Is it actually worth it to do all of this? I don’t really know. Maybe it wasn’t worth it.

Before Joey had any final thoughts, he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
