I tapped my pen against my desk. I wonder if I’d break any bones if I jumped out the window. Bad idea, Hannah, let’s not try. But honestly, how does this woman expect me to sit and listen to her drone on and on about, what was it...the Cold War? Yeah, definitely not.

“Simon Johnson are you paying attention?!” Ms. O’ Hare snaps. You can hear a snort and barely an “hmm” from the back of the room.

“Now, as I was saying, they had…” I stop paying attention to her. Something very interesting was happening outside. A man was kneeling on the ground with his ear pressed onto the sidewalk. What the hell? He had on a ridiculous looking bow tie on. He pulled a stethoscope from the inside of the trench coat he was wearing.

“Hannah pay attention.” Ms. O’ Hare struck again. I nodded and listened for a second, then glanced out the window again. The strange man was gone.

After class I dashed outside to where the man was kneeling down. I wonder what he was doing… I look around me; most kids are in class by now. Getting down on my hands and knees, I press my ear onto the pavement, listening hard for anything.

“You’re not going to hear anything, if that’s what you’re thinking,” A voice said from behind me. I jump and turn around. It was the man; he was smiling down at me.

“ I uh…,” I manage to get out. The man laughs a clear and harmonic laugh. His green eyes twinkle as he laughs. They seemed to be full of curiosity, wonder, amazement, and just about any other exciting emotion possible.

“Who are you, exactly?” I ask, standing up and brushing myself. The man grins as he says it.

“I’m the Doctor.”

(Hello, me again! Just wanted to post Part One. Also, to let you know, Chloe Grace Moretz is Hannah. )
