- Chapter Twelve -

You were excited for the day because 1) It was Halloween and 2) You were gonna help at the carnival later at night. You had your costume put together and everything, though since it was still early you decided to help Bree and Chase put up the last decorations.

Once finshing, you had stood besides Bree as Chase leaned forward on the counter. Oliver and Kaz were sitting at the small table on the other side of the room, waving at you three as you returned the gesture.

"So are we just gonna pretend that we don't notice Kaz and Oliver plotting something over there?" Bree asked, while smiling at Kaz and Oliver.

"It's easier that way." Chase stated.

"I'm not getting involved until something explodes or catches fire." You spoke to the siblings all while looking at Oliver and Kaz. You then turned to the Davenport siblings. "So, got any plans tonight?"

"Nothing much, just relaxing." Bree shrugged. "You?"

"I'm actually helping out at the carnival that they're having at the park tonight." You replied.

"Really? Are you dressing up?" Bree asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

"Yes, I am. What's Halloween without dressing up?" You asked, as Oliver suddenly bumped into you to get to the counter.

"She said yes! All right, all right!" Oliver exclaimed, moving a set of dishes. "Where do I begin?" Oliver then was splattered with pumpkin guts, which made you smile in amusement. "Hey, I still got a date with Skylar. Not even a nose of pumpkin can change that."

"Least he's optimistic." You shrugged.

As time passed and everyone went their separate ways, you decided to sit on the couch and read a novel to kill some time. Bree at sat beside you, typing away on her laptop until Perry came running through the door screaming and hiding behind the couch.

"What's going on, Perry?" Bree asked as she set her laptop down on the table.

"It's Halloween! That means it's my turn to die!" She exclaimed. Your eyebrows shot up in surprise as she stood in front of you and Bree. "You may recall that I was a child actor on the hit Tv show, The Little Squirts."

"Nope." Bree replied.

"Well, I was. Here, I'll show you." Perry had taken Bree's laptop. "The series was cancelled after a horrible accident killed an actor on Halloween night."

"Yeah, I really don't--"

Perry continued on talking, not acknowledging Bree. "Every year since, one more member of the cast and crew had met an untimely fate on Halloween in ways that directly relate to the show."

"Again, Perry, I'm really not interested--"

Perry interrupted Bree once more as she stood up and continued talking. "We once did an episode with a butcher, and ten years later, bam, my co-star Cindy McDougal chocked on a flank steak!" You rose a brow as Perry sat down, looking at you both. "Tonight I realized I'm the last living cast member. I'm...the last squirt. Death is coming for me. I have to be ready for anything."

"Well, I hope you're ready for this, because I'm kicking you out." Bree stated.

Perry stood up abruptly. "No! No, you can't!"

"Perry, relax. You're not gonna die." You assured her.

"Yeah." Bree agreed as she looked at the laptop, reading the article. "I'm sure it's just a coincidence that thirty-four of your co-workers suffered horrible deaths on the same day." Bree furrowed her brows as she stood with you following behind. "Yeah, you might be in trouble."
