- Chapter Fourteen -
During the past week, you and the team had been going on back-to-back missions without any breaks. And if you did have breaks, it only lasted a short while. You all would sometimes have to wake up in the middle of the night or really early morning to go on whatever mission was called for, so you or really anyone else didn't have free time.It was a lot of work; saving people, fixing things, but it was the Elite Force's business.
When heading back into the penthouse from a recent mission, Chase had spoke. "Well, congratulations guys, that was out tenth mission this week."
"Only ten?" Oliver asked, as you went to sit on the couch beside him. "It feels more like a hundred. Using superpowers really takes it out of you. My whole body's sore."
Kaz had agreed. "Yeah, mine too." As Kaz had sat down, he released a sharp cry. "Oh, it hurts more to sit!"
"Okay," Skylar began, "you guys haven't even had your powers that long and you're already complaining."
"Yeah." Bree agreed, sitting next to Kaz. "I have been running a hundred miles an hour since I was a baby. Don't talk to me about sore until you have bionic blisters." Bree had taken off her boot to show the boys her foot, which made them recoil in disgust. She rolled her eyes at them. "Rookies."
Once Bree had left limping up the stairs, Oliver had spoke. "Man, if we feel this bad now, what's going to happen when we get older?"
"I don't know." Kaz admitted before smiling. "Ooh! But I can show you what we'll look like." Kaz had taken out his phone then, snapping a picture of Oliver. "I have this app that ages photos. That is you at eighty."
Since you were sitting in between Oliver and Kaz, you had to slightly lean forward to see an older version of Oliver.
"Cute mustache." Skylar complimented with a smile.
"Mustache? Yeah, that's all nose hair." Kaz explained, as you scrunched your nose in disgust.
"Guys, why are you so freaked out about growing older, anyway?" Chase addressed you all. He had been sitting on the headrest of the couch just behind you. "It's just a part of life. Personally, I am looking forward to aging gracefully."
"Oh, really?" Kaz asked, pulling his phone out again to snap a picture of Chase. "Cause this is you."
You leaned up a bit, pulling the phone at an angle for you and Chase to see.
Chase shrugged. "So? Big deal. That's what everyone looks like when they're eighty."
Kaz then glanced at the picture. "Dude, that's you at forty."
"What?! Gimme!" Chase snatched the phone from Kaz as he stood up.
"Yeah, you sure are gonna age gracefully." You laughed.
Chase scowled, looking at Kaz. "Yeah, you're gonna need a new phone, 'cause this one just broke." Chase then turned and walked away.
~~~~~
The next morning after you had your breakfast, you had gone up and take a well deserved shower. Once you had finished, you changed into a pair of jeans, a black tank top and grey flannel.
When exiting the bathroom, Bree came walking out of your (well the girls') room with a smile.
"What are you smiling for?" You asked Bree.
"Come on, I'm gonna announce the news to the team." She nodded towards the stairs. You had followed her as she basically ran downstairs to tell the team. "Hey, guys. Guess what? Tasha and my baby sister are coming to visit!"
